Traveling around as a wolf in search of demigods can actually be quite quick. Unlike most monsters, lycanthropes of Lycaon travel faster than the hunters of Artemis. Their speed is astonishing, but with size they actually increase in speed.
Such is the case of a powerful demigod, turned large lycanthrope wolf. As such, Jack found the child of Hermes fairly quickly. All he had to do was sniff out for a mischievous divine child with a knack for trouble.
Jasmine Griffith was an 11 year old girl with sandy blonde frizzy hair. With her mother in denial of Hermes leaving her with a child to raise alone, she blamed her daughter and took her drunken anger out on her.
Bruises filled her arms, legs and face. She was frozen in fear, her wet ripped clothes dirty and clinging to her cold body. It makes sense seeing as a rather enormous black wolf stood in her backyard.
Poor Jasmine was left outside by her mother Tessa. She was apparently not letting a child, that doesn't benefit the living cost, board for free.
So Jasmine stared in horror as the wolf stalked forward closer into the light. His face was only a foot from her small body, sad eyes bored into hers. The wolf let out a small yet audible whimper for the girl yet she did not know it.
Jasmine reached a hand out and caressed the large wolf on his snout. "Are you hurt?" She whispered weekly due to hardly using her voice.
Jack widened his eyes in utter shock. How could she be in so much pain and suffering, yet still show kindness regardless of her own despair?
He licked all her wounds that he could see, her small shorts revealing plenty of undeserving marks all over her slender legs. She could still be a beauty in a couple years once he saves her, her sun kissed skin would grow radiant again. As such, Jack was once again utterly determined to change this world. Even if it takes one child at a time, he would accomplish his goal.
Jasmine giggled at the wolf's affection. Once he was done and rested his body on the ground, Jasmine saw her wounds rapidly fading. Her mouth hung open in shock at what she was feeling and seeing. Bones and joints mending, her organs healing her back to health. Bruises faded away back to her normal skin tone, her skin growing with her fixing bones.
She gasped as she suddenly felt warm human arms wrap her body from behind her. "My name is Jack. It's ok now." Jasmine let her tears fall as she accepted human warmth for the first time since her birth.
"It's ok sweetie." His husky voice whispered in her ear. She let her soft sobs out of her body. "You're safe now, I promise."
Jack carried Jasmine princess style towards the the back sliding door. He plans to have a small chat with her mother before announcing the child's safety and taking her away.
Jack stopped in front of the glass door trying to open only to take a step back. His attempt revealed it was locked so force was needed.
"Burry your face towards me for a second please." Jack requested. She promptly did so and braced.
Jack kicked the door, affectively shattering the glass, before walking through.
Standing at the border of the kitchen and what might be a living room, was a women with dark blonde hair. Her face held bags under her eyes. A bottle of alcohol visible in her grasping hand beside her.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" She yelled with a slight slur.
Jack took a step forward, a glare on his face. "I'm taking her home. As for you, I will give you a harsh warning." He snarled at her.
Tessa took a step back from the man carrying her daughter in fear. Her mind almost feels completely sober leading her to assume a murderer is in her home. He just threatened her life. A stranger holding that child just cane in and threatened her after breaking her back screen door.
Suddenly, Tessa froze on the spot when she looked into Jack's eyes. Jack gave her his most ferocious glare whilst also releasing an enormous amount of his power.
"What are both of your names?" He asks slowly. Taking another step towards the woman. She stays still, her feet glued to the ground in utter fear.
"T-Tes...sa..." Was her stuttering answer whilst she pointed to herself shakily. "Jas...mine..." Tessa points to the girl in his arms. She feels as though something is weighing down on her shoulders, threatening to crush her.
Jack took another large step forward, the light of the living room now shining on him and Jasmine.
"Look." He commands simply.
Tessa slowly looks down at her daughter in his arms. Curled into his body, face buried in his chest, hands clutching at his shirt. The desperation in her grip screamed for protection. But, not a single horrible mark remained on what Tessa could see upon Jasmine.
Tessa gasped and quickly placed a hand over her mouth causing her to drop the bottle she was holding. The bottle didn't seem to shatter as Jack took yet another step forward.
The light shined on his face revealing glowing sea green eyes. A swirl of greens like a raging storm under a cloudless sky. "She is safe now." Jack states. "She will never be hurt by you again, no child will be hurt by you."
Tears streamed down Tessa's face as he spoke. She understood the point quickly. "Don't look for her, don't ask questions, don't contact any of the gods." Tessa gasped, this man knew about the gods. "Don't even think about telling Hermes who took her if you won't tell him what you did to Jasmine. You might not know it, most mortals don't but, the gods do watch their children. The laws restrict them from actively being there for them but the gods do watch over their own."
Jack moved to reach the front door, dropping his glare and suppressing his power. Tessa finally dropped to her knees from the weight being lifter off and looked towards the door. "I'm not telling you to change completely but, do better."
The door was opened but before Jack left he gave her a slimmer of hope. "Even you should get a second chance so don't waste it."
The suburbs in California have plenty of wooded areas thankfully so Jack headed towards a forest. Smelling out the thick pine smell of natural forests Jack walked to the end of the street where the forest began.
Jasmine was asleep in his arms by the time he reached the edge of the forest. She would most certainly be better fit to join the hunters than either camps. The girls will be her sisters, Thalia would be the mother figure she needs, Artemis the perfect guardian and teacher.
An idea popped into Jack's head for a safe trip to the hunters. He quickly made his way back into the house, grabbed a bed sheet, and snuck back out.
He put Jasmine on his back covering her body against his then tied it in front of himself. Plenty of space was obviously need for when he transformed so he had to be careful in making sure she didn't fall off his back.
Jack went to the ground resting on all fours before he slowly transformed into his wolf form. Jasmine was secure and safe on his comfortable furry back. With out further delay he took off at incredible speeds to return home. Honestly, the thought of Thalia being a mother figure to Jasmine made him miss Thalia. He yearned to be with her again, similar to how he wanted to stay by the side of his ex girlfriend.
