Part 17

Severus and james spent the evening in hogsmeade, going to stores, eating food, buying snacks, running around.

They walked around the street in the evening holding large bags of candy they each bought and multiple other things they got.

James carried most of the bags and smiled bright.

Severus studied his face. The way his lips curved, how angular his jaw was, how the slope of his nose scrunched whenever he laughed really hard.

They walked around hogsmeade aimlessly as the lights turned on and fairy light adorned the streets.

The shops were filled with couples going on dates and they even spotted Narcissa, Lucius, Andy and Teddy on a double date, Molly and Arthur at the candy shop, Frank Longbottom and his girlfriend Alice at the three broomsticks.

They walked around hand in hand, admiring the shop windows and swinging their arms.

If someone had saw them they would have thought they were already a couple, but that wasn't true. And it was a fact both parties knew painfully well.

" so. What do you want to do now?" James asked when they finally came up to the castle.

Severus glanced down at his pocket, the very one that held the promise rings.

" i........ follow me." Severus grabbed james' wrist and ran up the castle.

They eventually made it up to the astronomy tower, panting and wheezing from running so much.

James panted and plopped down on the couch, setting his bags down. Severus sat back down beside him and looked up at the stars.

They finally calmed down and the sound of their eratic breathing was replaced with calm silence. They comfortably sat there together, feeling each others warmth.

Soon James broke the silence.

" soooooo.......... why did we have to run all the way up here?" James asked. Severus turned his head and looked at james.

The moonlight perfectly lit all the angles of his face. He looked Magnificent.

" sev?" James snapped his finger.

Severus then leaned in and kissed him.

James, for the second time that day was extremely confused and shocked.

Severus grabbed the back of James' neck and leaned in closer. He deepened the kiss and ran his hand through James' hair.

When they separated for air, james stared at Severus in shock. He then furrowed his eyebrows and he stood up swiftly.

He paced the tower, trying to rack his head around everything that had happened.

" can you please. Please stop doing that." James asked, anger and confusion in his voice.

Now it was severus' turn to be confused.

" wha- what do you mean?" He asked from the couch.

James turned away from him and let out a shuttered breath.

" every few days...every few days You show me so much affection and then it makes me almost hope that we will be together. Then the next day you act like nothing happened and you ignore it all. We went through the same thing 3 months ago and we are going through it again. I just..."

James lifted his hands up then froze. He slowly put then on the railing and leaned on it.

" i just cant do that anymore." James said, his voice wavering.
