" WHAT? Thats your present?!" Sirius yelled. Narcissa winced again and looked at sirius but he didn't look back.

" yes it is. Now. I need your help. I dont know what james likes. These five are here to help pick out a nice ring and sirius is here to tell me if james would like it." Severus said and walked in, the whole party trailing behind them. Bells jingled above them as they opened the door and they were immediately hit with spotless glass counters holding hundreds of rings.

The store was nice, it was small but not so small that there wasnt a big selection. It was all neatly organized and labeled and by the counter was a nice young witch inspecting a couple jewels.

" hello, welcome to Lacey's ring shop. How may i help you?" The you g lady put down the jewels and turned to them.

Bellatrix walked over and smiled sweetly.

" hi, we are looking for promise rings? Its a valentines gift for tommorow." She said.

"Oh. Well you've come to the right place then. Right over here please." She walked over to one of the counters. She pulled out about 20 selections and presented them to severus.

" here are our most popular rings. They can be given as gifts, used as promise rings, engagement rings and what not." She held out a couple of them.

" oh how about this one?" Narcissa held up the box. It was a pair of gold bands, a vine detail etched into it.

" its simple but detailed." Narcissa said.

" severus, this one?" Regulus pointed to a pair of silver rings.

It was two black rings, one of them a simple band and the other was thinner and had a small diamond on it.

" i dont think that james would wear a diamond, even for me." Severus said. Regulus shrugged and continued looking.

" do you have any promise rings for umm.... same sex couples?" Severus asked awkwardly. Lily snorted and earned a glare from her best friend.

" oh why yes. We've gotten a lot of requests so we decided to include a selection . Here it is." She brought out more rings.

There were simple bands, thinner ones, rings with engravings and small details.

Sirius picked up a pair or rings. It was a silver pair, one with a picture of the moon engraved and the other had the silhouette of a wolf.

" fancy buying that for lupin?" Severus teased. Lily laughed and looked at a very flustered Sirius.

" wha- what are you talking abou-"

" oh please you are so smitten. The past three months you have been following him around like a dog. Literally." Lily told him. Sirius put the rings back on the counter and walked away. Severus turned around and smirked.

" oh come on sirius!"

" no. Piss off." He stood alone in the corner and turned away from them. Lily and severus shared a laugh and continued looking at the selection.

Then one ring caught his eye. It was a black band. It had constellations engraved into it running all around the ring. Silver detailing brought out the constellations and tiny diamonds were in place of the stars.
