Vanessa POV•

Jack and I were still merely inches apart from each other, standing in an awkward silence. I could feel him smiling.

"I miss being this close to you..." he said under a smirk. I rolled off of him and headed for school.

"This won't be the last time you see me!" he called down the street. I rolled my eyes and started walking faster soon realizing I'd be late for school.

Once I arrived at school
Chris was waiting by my locker. I sucked in a breath hoping he would bring up what just happened.

"I heard there was a new kid in school," he raised his eyebrows in suspicion.

"I haven't heard anything," I replied sharply, "After school I have lax tryouts so I won't be able to walk home with you." He nodded and we departed our separate ways and headed to class.

My first class o the day was Advanced Algebra. I hated this class with much passion. They act like I'm supposed to know what 'x' means. As I sat down I got a weird feeling in my stomach. Then the teacher began speaking:

"Class we have a new student... His name is Hayes Grier..."

My head jolted when I heard his name. My jaw basically on hinged itself and was jumping around on the ground. When he saw me he winked. I raised my hand.

"Vanessa, thank you for volunteering to show Hayes the way around!"

"Well, actually I had to go to the bath-"
"No excuses!" he spat at me. Now I was getting death glares from all the girls in the class. I was in for a rude awakening.

"I missed you Vanessa!" Hayes said In his soft voice.

"Well, I didn't mis you..."

"That hurts the heart... I have been looking all over for you, but when I finally find you, you don't want me.." he said pouting.

"I never did..." I said turning to show him his locker. He entered his combination and threw his books in the locker.

"Why are you even here?" I questioned him.

"I wanted to find you..." he stated, "Plain and simple." I blushed, but kept it hidden. All my list feelings for Hayes were now re-emerging. I pushed them to the side of my head as I tried to complete my lifeless day...
