Chapter 54

Vanessa POV

I awkwardly ate my dinner in silence. Matt occasionally looked over at me, but I never returned the stare. Matt gently brushed his hand over my thigh and knocked my napkin to the floor. I reached down to get and at the same time he reached down too. I glared at him and he smiled.

"You, ass!" I whispered.

"Right back at ya!" he gritted and sat back up at the table like nothing happened.

"Vanessa, is everything all right?" my mom chipped.

"Yes, mom..." I said shooting an evil eye at Matt.. She gave me a confused look and went back to eating. Matt knocked my napkin off my lap again, and this time I stood up and left the dinner table. Matt was missing me off and Mahogany did this on purpose. I went up to my room and picked up my book Speak. After dinner my mom came up to my room.

"Why did you make a scene?" She said angrily.

"He was bothering me..." I said my eyes never leaving the words on my book. She scoffed and left my room. At this moment I wasn't very pleased with people. A notification popped up on my phone signaling me to go visit Nash. Today would be his 17th birthday, so I decided I wanted to see him. I grabbed my keys off my desk and left the house through my balcony.

As I was driving to the cemetery, I saw Chris sitting at the end of his driveway with a red rose in his hands. I pulled over and offered for him to get in. He quickly stood up and got on the car.

"Where are you going?" he asked.

"To visit Nash..."

"Is he your boyfriend, or something..." he mood suddenly changing.

"No... He um... died two years again..." I said trying not to remember the gruesome night.

"Oh... I'm sorry..."

"It's fine..." I say as we pulled into the parking lot. I grabbed Nash's present and led Chris to Nash. It was silent as we stood there. He brushed his hand over mine. I was flustered and tearing from memory. In this action I cringed at his touch. He swore and punished himself under his breathe. That brought a smile to my face. I turned to face Chris.

"We can go if you'd like.." I stated.

"Only if you'd like," he said leaning into me. I found myself closing my eyes and leaning in too. I opened one eye when I noticed we hadn't kissed me. My lips were puckered and I had one eye open. Oh. How embarrassing I must have looked!

"Don't tempt me!" he said chuckling. My face was getting redder and redder by the moment.

"Ya..." I said my voice trailing off. Maybe sometime. Maybe sometime.

Heeeyyy! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I had told one reader JakexReed that I would update on Christmas, but I lied.Sorry these past weeks have been so busy. I spent the weekend in N.Y.C which was amazing!! I'm off track now... I want this chapter to decide which boy I was dating... With more votes going towards Collins, I think he wins! I hope you enjoyed this chapter, it was a bit of a rush, but worth it!
