we all stand up and shake hands
"you can start work tomorrow " Lucas says and Erick nods then excuses himself out
I start collecting my things from the table and Lucas is looking at me ..I can feel his eyes burning through me but he's silent .
"Um ..are you still mad ?" he asks ..oh yeah ..in fact ..i hate you .
"Mad ? about what ? " i ask innocently .
"yesterday." he says simply .
"No ...personal life and business are completely separate ..we're business partners and arguing is a normal thing in that case " i say making direct eye contact with him with no emotions at all .
"Correct " he says and frowns .
Lisa comes back into the room "Mr.Patterson , Miss Leonard ..you still haven't told me which hotel to book in for us " she says and i look over to Lucas .
"leave that to Belle she knows the hotel and she actually booked already, I think " Lucas says and Lisa nods .
"Yes sir , what about a driver ..should i book a driver ?? " Lisa asks and Lucas nods but I protest .
"No we don't need a driver ..the company will send us a car to the hotel once we give them the address " I say .
"What if we wanna go out around the city ? " Lucas asks and i cock my head to the side .
"Then we will walk " I say simply and his mouth forms a thin line .
"Ahm ..okay ..oh what about Max ..should i book for him with us ? " Lisa asks awkwardly .
"No " Lucas says as soon as she finishes her sentence and I feel the need to argue with him but no ..no emotions Eva .
"Yes Mr.Patterson is correct ...we have already managed all the legal affairs ..we're only going to sign so we don't need him , if we need him though , we're going to E-mail him " I say and Lucas looks at me like he's seen a ghost .
"Perfect " Lisa looks so proud of me and she walks out . I want to high five myself .
"So , should i pick you up at 7 ? " Lucas asks me desperate to open a subject .
"No Ben will drive me and Lisa to the airport ..meet you there at 8 ? " i ask and he nods , I quickly walk out leaving him standing there frustrated .
Lucas~
I'm so not used to the Evangeline who shuts everything out . She treats me with coldness that I find myself annoyed with , I don't want her to be like that .. I want the feisty Eva who would comment sassy things on everything I say , that Evangeline was gone since two days ago . I have this need to fix it , I don't know how . I'm not getting any reaction from her and it somehow sucks , when did I care about how she feels or reacts ? .
I yelled , I said things that I apologized for and I reacted a bit like an asshole , all of this is because Erick will work with us ..because he will take her place ..? maybe she's mad that he'll be taking her previous position ? no i don't think so , she's running her father's company she wouldn't be mad about a lower position . So it's just that she hates the guy , which is unnecessary .
I shake my head and walk out of my office , i need to rest my mind from all these thoughts and problems that i'm in no need for .
It's lunch break and i head to the elevator to go out of this suffocating place . when I reach the elevator the doors open and there she stands in the corner of the elevator glancing down at her phone , I rethink going in because who knows what she'll do this time . she looks up and her face falls but I ignore it and step in , it's empty here and only us . She busies herself with the phone while I stare at our reflection on the closed doors .
