Chapter 5

~Eva 

My phone starts ringing just as i was about to get out of the meeting room 
"max ! " ianswer as i walk out of the room . the elevator's doors were still open and Lucas was inside . 

"Hello miss Leonard " Max says through the phone as i got inside the elevator looking at Lucas but he's checking his watch 
"oh uh ..what did i do now ?? " i say as Lucas presses the button to the first floor 

"nothing ..you just became the freaking CEO of Leonard's company without telling me " he says with the coldest voice ever
"i swear it went so fast , my dad just decided yesterday and i just had my first meeting so i didn't have time , i didn't even tell Lisa but she knew becausshe called dad this morning " i say trying to convince him but fully knowing that he'll still be mad .

"Anyway Evangeline , it's not the first time you try to keep me out of your life " he says with pain and my heart ache .

"No what are you saying Max ! this is not true , i want you in my life ..you're a huge part in my life " i say and he pauses, for a second and then he let out a breath ..relief breath ?? the elevator's doors open and a man gets inside then they close .

"Okay ..you have time tomorrow to come with me so we can buy the gift i told you about ?? " he asks with a voice full of hope .
"sure , i think i can make time " i say and i look over to Lucas who was looking at me but quickly turns his head when i look at him and i can't help but to smile .

"Okay so i'll call you again to decide on a time " Max says, "okay" i say and hang up. 
i put the phone in my purse and fix my hair . the elevators open and all the three of us walk out .Lucas head to his office without saying anything and i do the same getting out of the company .

Ben is waiting for me outside the car , he opens the door and i get in ...and we drive to my house ..wow what a day .

I climb out of the car quickly and head to our front door, Margret opens the door and i give her a smile then go inside looking for dad ،I'm so excited to tell him everything about the meeting, i look around, he wasn't in the living room or the dining room, i put my purse and papers down on the dining table and walk to the french door in the back of the house, dad was sitting there under the sunlight and coughing with his hand on his mouth, i gaze at him from inside, he's not feeling well at all and not getting better AT ALL. He drinks a little water then lays back down closing his eyes, i take a deep breath and walk out, i plastered a smile pretending i haven't been there watching him behind the glass door.

 "Papa" .. he looks up and smiles brightly , he straightens up and says "Eva! Honey I've been waiting for you, tell me everything " , he pats the spot next to him and i sit there telling him everything happened in the conference room,

He liked when i objected the rule about them being free to do other projects and apologized because he didn't tell me that he agreed to that rule , he kept complimenting me and saying how proud he is about how i handled the meeting. 
But i kept the Mr.Patterson's -arrogant behavior part out of the conversation, i Don't want to be bother i just wanna celebrate my first meeting as a CEO with my father and think about nothing else . 

"See? I think you were perfect and if you done this successfully then you have nothing to worry about from now on" dad says and strokes my cheek, i smile shyly and hug him, i might be a new CEO but as soon as my dad goes back to work i will take my old position as the marketing head and everything will be fine. 

"I think I'm going to cook lunch and we'll celebrate together, okay with you?" I ask him and he nods smiling, then he starts coughing again , i hand him the water and kiss his head, i try as hard as i can not to show my worry ..oh papa why aren't you getting any better ?
