I pulled out my phone, texting Zion.Did you hear about the Five?
I waited a few minutes. After no reply came in, I gave up, shoving my phone in my pocket before looking back at my friends. I caught Tom eying me suspiciously.
"I'm soooo glad the week is almost over!" said Star.
"Tell me about it," Tom agreed.
Yawning, Joel got up. "I'm beat. I'll see you guys tomorrow." he said, waving at me. He winked at Star before walking away with Tom.
I looked at Star, whose face was beet red.
"We're just friends, huh?" I commented, smirking.
"We ARE!!!" she insisted.
"Tell that to your face."
She blushed again at my comment, causing me to giggle at her discomfort.
"Let's go." I said, throwing my arm over her shoulder.
We walked back to the section, and I walked back out to shower shortly after grabbing my things. I took a long, scorching hot shower washing the days troubles away. I got dried off, dressed, and headed back. Star was sitting in bed, occupied in her phone. I plopped down onto my bed, grabbing my phone to check to see if Zion texted me. After seeing no reply, I threw my phone down, frowning.
I looked over to see Star beaming at her phone. I walked over, plopping down beside her on her bed. She protectively clutched her phone to her chest in an effort to hide what was on it.
"Okay you're either texting Joel or you have a boyfriend I don't know about."
Sighing, she uncovered her phone to show me the chat. I read the incoming text from Joel.
Wanna go flying together tomorrow?
I shrieked in excitement.
"I KNEW IT!"
"I told him I was struggling to do somersaults in the air so he said he'd help me!!!!" she explained nervously.
"Then why are you smiling so hard?"
"I am not!" she exclaimed, kicking me out of her bed.
Giggling, I crawled back into my bed.
"Goodnight. Sleep tight. Dream of Joel tonight," I taunted, before turning back over to my comfortable side.
"I hate you!!!"
I checked my phone one last time. Still no reply from Zion. I closed my eyes, picturing Zion before attempting to enter his mind with my Angel powers.
Before long, I was back inside that room waiting for him. I must've waited for less than a second before he came in, with a grave expression on his face.
"What's wrong?" I asked, rushing towards him.
"Nothing."
"Did you see my text?"
"Yeah, I'm sorry. I was asking around, trying to find out why they were coming."
"And did you?"
"No."
"Tell me what's on your mind." I pleaded, frowning at his short replies.
"I'm just worried."
"There's no reason to be."
"Someone tried to kill you today. Now the Five are coming. This can't be good," he said, shoving his fingers through his hair in frustration while pacing around the tiny room.
