Waking up to the familiar blasting of the alarm, I rose up going to the bathroom to wash up. I returned, quickly changed and headed out with Star. We walked out to meet the boys in the Common. I smiled, noticing Jeremy was with them.

"Hey!" I greeted them, enthusiastically.

"Hey," Jeremy replied. Tom smiled in response.

"Let's go," said Star, walking straight out with Joel closely on her heel. I smiled, noticing Joel slide his arm over her shoulders.

Noticing me smile, Tom asked, "What?"

Deciding it wasn't my place to tell, I replied, "Nothing."

"What's your first class?" I asked, turning to Jeremy.

"History."

"Lucky. Me and Star have math." I laughed as he gagged in response.

"Hey, Jer, wanna join me and Joel?" asked Star, as her and Joel jumped up in the air, spreading their wings.

"Yeah!" Jeremy agreed, happily soaring up with them.

I watched them thread around the staircase, doing somersaults as they cackled hysterically.

"Why don't you join them?" Tom asked, following my gaze

Hesitating, I replied, "I like doing some things the old fashioned way." I quickened my pace up the stairs, sensing a follow up question.

"I see the way you look at them. I can tell you want to join them. Why don't you?"

"Why do you care?" I snapped.

A flash of hurt passed over his eyes, quickly fading before he turned away from me silently climbing the stairs.

"Tom, I'm sorry I didn't mean to-"

"Finally! You guys took forever," said Star.

"Why didn't you guys join us?" asked Jeremy

"Ask Saron," muttered Tom.

Joel cocked his eye at us, noticing something wrong.

"Let's go," I said walking quickly till we reached the cross paths. Once we reached it, we separated and me and Star headed to math. Once we got there, we settled in the back as usual. Class flew by as my regret consumed me. Tom hasn't done anything but be nice to him. He was just being a good friend. I waited until class was dismissed to text him.

Tom, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you.

No response. I said goodbye to Star, flitting to the nearest vending machine. I chomped down on a bag of chips before heading to History.

"Alright class. Today, we are going to learn about banshees. Banshees are-"

She prattled on for the duration of class while my mind wandered to my test tomorrow. I had a sinking feeling that something bad was going to happen. I tried to calm my nerves by telling myself I was just nervous. As class ended, I walked out to meet Star. I pulled out my phone to check if Tom replied. No notifications. Frowning, I sped up to meet Star knowing she'd cheer me up. I walked towards her once I spotted her in the usual spot.

"Hey!"

"Hey, how was class with Joel?"

Rolling her eyes, she answered, "Good."

We walked in to the class, talking while we waited for Mr. Sharp. Jeremy came in with a couple of other students and we immediately waved him over to sit with us.

"What do you think we're going to do today," he asked.

On cue, Mr. Sharp strolled in, papers in hand. "Students, today we are going to continue to practice our flying skills. Everyone, meet me up in the air. Saron, Star, and Jeremy come up front."
