Chapter 1

Serena POV

This is the stupidest thing we've ever done. Ever since Beverly saw an attack helicopter on TV, she swore to escape North Korea on one with all of us behind her. Ugh. Now we're snooping through the government depot and I swear those sniffer dogs have pretty much already found us. Oh joy, I guess I'm going to die tonight.

"We're nearly there!" Beverly chided with excitement, she threw her hands up and dropped the flashlight.

"Are you stupid?" Ember reprimanded, "stop talking! They'll hear us!"

"You're the one talking!" Beverly accused.

"Only because you were!" Ember shot back.

"Why don't we all just shut up?" Penelope suggested, avoiding all conflict. "If we get caught by those officers, we're all done for!"

"Where's Emily?"

Emily was dancing behind a security camera, flailing her arms all around. Ember tugged her arm, yanking her onwards, and Emily was dancing the whole way.

"Look! It's an attack helicopter! Look at how many people it can seat! 15! That's so many people!" Beverly gushed, running up to the mighty helicopter on the H pad.

Just as Beverly was about to touch the machine, lights clicked on and focused onto her stupid pale face.

"Stop right there!" They yelled, officers came pouring out with shotguns and assault rifles. "What are you kids doing?"

Beverly screams in fear, and unloads her machine gun and wipes out the first wave of soldiers. We all scream in fear (even Emily) and we all run off in separate directions. I go right with Ember and Penelope while Emily goes off on her own. Beverly's petrified on the spot, and dumbly looks around at the soldiers.

They all advance onto Beverly, but miraculously somehow she manages to fight them all off with her machine gun. Ember, Penelope and I all hide together around the corner while Emily holds up her sniper which is terrible for shooting short distance.

"We've got you now!" A measly huge officer yelled at Emily. Emily pointed up her useless sniper, and actually shot him in the face without using the scope.

"How did you do that?" Penelope yelled.

"I play a lot of Fortnite," Emily replied. "I always do 360 no-scopes."

"I don't think that's applicable in every situation!" I yelled back.

Emily shrugged, and effortlessly started shooting off the remaining officers. Suddenly, Kim Jon Un burst through the huge metallic doors, and set his eyes on us.

"What the hell are you kids doing?" He screamed, "security!"

"SECURITY MY ASS!" I shrieked, charging for the obese mcdonalds-lover -eating leader, my shotgun aimed on his broad chest. He screamed like a girl and ran away, but not before notifying every soldier in the facility on what was going on.

We all regrouped, and we all ran onto the attack helicopter. Thing is, none of us even know how to drive.

"How do you work this thing?" Ember yelled, fumbling around with the controls.

"Relax kid, I've got this," Emily coolly said. "I've flown tons of attack helicopters on Fortnite. It's really fun, you just-"

"HURRY UP LADY!"

Emily sat down at the controls, and actually managed to work the helicopter. The helicopter flew only a couple of meters above the ground before soldiers burst through the same doors Kim Jon Un did, and they all charged towards us.

"VENGEANCE!" Beverly screamed, shooting her bullets at the brave men. They all collapsed on the ground as Emily was pulling us away. Shots were fired, but they all miraculously missed.

We ascended higher and higher into the air, just until we were above the clouds, flying peacefully away in the night.

"That was so awesome!" Beverly recapped, "all those shots fired! Wasn't that just amazing and cool? I can't believe that we actually did it! I thought it was a suicide mission!"

"Of course it was a suicide mission!" I scolded, "we could've died!"

"Remind me why we agreed to do this," Penelope whispered, loud enough for everyone to hear.

"Well, we were all at graduation last week and Beverly made this incredibly disturbing speech to us about how much she loved attack helicopters." I muttered.

"Oh yes, I remember now," Emily smiled, jumping off her seat to sit next to the rest of us.

"Shouldn't you be driving the helicopter?"

"It's on autopilot!" Emily said, "it's fine. I only need to drive it when we're either taking off, landing, or going through harsh weather."

"Is there a GPS on this thing?" Ember asked, "we need to know when we're out of the borders of North Korea."

"Oh yeah, there's a system at the front of the controls. It'll be 3 hours until we cross the border into South Korea."

"At least we made it out though, right?" Penelope said, looking hopeful at everyone. "I mean, I could not deal with having no computer in my house."

"Same, I really wanted to google some dance videos, you know?" Emily chimed. "I also really wanted to learn how to sing, or watch a hollywood movie-"

"Shut up Emily," I hushed, "no one cares about your opinion."

Unlike everyone I say this too, Emily doesn't give a damn about my opinion. She thinks I'm joking, that we're meant to be best friends. I've only known her for 1 month, and I seriously regret the day I tried to be nice for once and talk to this weird ass chick. I knew the moment she opened her loud mouth, I was doomed.

Ever since then, her and Ember decided to join us at lunch. I wanted to eat my lunch in solitude with Beverly and Penelope. Ember isn't that bad, she's tolerable. But Emily?

Everyday I want to punch her so badly. Emily tries giving me arm cancer everyday by jumping on my shoulders, and being just a stupid person in general. She somehow gets good grades though, but all the teachers hate her for her dancing in class.

I told Emily she should've gotten dance lessons or something, but Emily always says that ballet is boring and her style of dance is more free.

There's nothing good about Emily. She's the one person in this world that I hate more than my mum. The only thing I like about Emily is that she's understanding and nice when I get sad sometimes, but that's only happened once.

Ember is the smartest kid out of all of us. I'm not saying it's because she gets good grades in school, it's because Ember has the most common sense out of all of us. She always knows what's good for us, and what's not. The only reason why we even got into the military base was because she knew when we should've broken in.

Penelope formulated our plans to break into the military camp. She's good at planning ahead, and she's really flexible when something doesn't go to plan. She's also a great figure skater, she does all these cool spins and jumps on the ice. She doesn't really invite me to practise anymore ever since I tried to stab Emily with her skates.

We all sit in solitude, hearing the cool air whistle past our ears. Looking down on the puffy white clouds as we slowly fly past.

"We finally did it," Beverly breathed. "We escaped North Korea."
