Ever since I woke up this morning I could tell something was off and I'm not sure if it's what happened last night or if something bad will happen today.
I thought back to what Novikov said... "bad things will happen."
When the doors of the elevator opened Marcus stood there holding out my cell phone to me. I looked at it then looked at him. "What's this?" I asked. He displayed no emotion on his face and forced it at me. "You're phone." He rolled his eyes.
"I'm aware." I raised my eyebrow at him. "But why?" I asked. He blew out an annoyed breath. "Pero mi tío wanted me to give it to you."
I took it from him, not sure if it was going to blow up in my hands or not.
"We erased its memory and locked mostly all of the apps. Well, I did... because Ben asked me too but..." he shrugged.
That's what I was waiting for.
"Also, I put mine and my uncles numbers in there... and I left your sisters number in there just don't tell Ben." He walked down the stairs with me then turned to me. "Be... careful today. He's in a mood."
I nodded, not expecting anything worse then what I've saw with all his other "moods". When I walked into the office he was on the phone so I came in quietly. "I do not know why you think that but I don't." He spoke through gritted teeth as he rubbed his temples. "You don't think I know that."
I sat down in the chair across the desk. Once he noticed me he sat straighter and lowered his voice. He glared at me and sighed growly. I furrowed my eyebrows at him.
Who pissed in you're cornflakes this morning?
"I. don't. need. your help." He said and hung up the phone. I lifted my eyebrows and looked away. "Is everything okay?" I asked cautiously. He sighed putting his head down. "Everything is fine."
It sounded like he was talking to himself more then anybody else.
"What do you want?" He looked up. I shifted uncomfortably under his gaze. "I... Marcus told me something is bothering you today." I shrugged. Rivera looked past me to the door. "It's fine..." He grumbled. "He's not happy today either. Today's the day someone close to us... passed." He looked down scratching his wrist.
At least he doesn't have a pen.
"Emi-." I said without thinking but stopped myself. It was to late though his glare was death giving. "How do you know that name?" His voice got dark and more frightening then I've heard it before.
"You... called me Emilio at Novikov's." I sucked my cheeks in, hoping I didn't have to explain anything else about that night to him. He growled then pushed something off his desk. "Damn it!" He stood. "Was there anything else that I said?" He asked. I shook my head, lying. He narrowed his eyes at me. "Liar."
"You just... said a bunch of things about sober you and drink you it was confusing." I shook my head, still avoiding eye contact. He grabbed my chin and forced eye contact. "Did you believe anything I said to you?"
I knocked his hand away, being surprised of how easily it was. "No... I don't know." I shrugged. "I don't know what to believe anymore." I got up so that I wasn't face to face with his hips.
"Good, because whatever I said wasn't true."
I crossed my arms and turned away, scoffing.
"You don't believe me?"
I turned back to him glaring at him but not being able to hold my gaze so I looked down. "I don't fucking know anything anymore." I muttered. I heard him take in a breath. "What don't you know?"
