The good news CTs are actually really fast and not painful to go through.
Bad news I did have a phone-no-dorax or whatever it was called and I do have to have surgery.
I was sitting in my room with the oxygen mask waiting for Sam to get back, trying not to overthink this too much.
Felicity had gone to flirt with my boyfriend, I mean try to. I didn't care much, I figured if I couldn't keep him company she'd be plenty.
Sam came back to my room and she had brought another younger female with her.
"Hey, Felix," Her voice was very bubbly and she looked more than happy to take me to where I didn't want to go. She was a pretty, petite, dark-skinned lady with her hair tied back neatly in a bun.
"Hi," I responded, softly, looking from her to Sam.
"I'm Dr. Robinson, I'm a thoracic surgeon here at this hospital. I'll be taking care of you today."
"Wait, today?" I questioned. "The surgery's today?" I felt my heart pick up as my anxiety skyrocketed.
She nodded and looked at Sam. "Well yeah, we have to fix your lung before it gets worse, plus Sam told me you were a special case."
I looked down, not responding.
"I'm going to give you a basic rundown of what we are going to do so that maybe you won't be so scared," she said, smiling softly. "Is that okay?"
I sucked in a breath. "That's okay."
"Not to toot my own horn but I've been doing this for quite some time so I'm kind of really good at it. It's a pretty easy surgery to do surgery, so you'll heal right up and be up and out in no time."
I nodded. "Oh... kay."
"Alright so..."
She gave me a basic rundown of the surgery and it did not help my anxiety the way she and everybody else thought it would.
I mean they were going to insert a tube into my chest and I couldn't touch it even if it got itchy or irritated or anything. If anything, the "run down" made me more anxious.
"... that's pretty much it," Dr. Robinson said, finishing her explanation.
"Oh... okay," I said looking at her.
"One question," She said, "Are you allergic to anything?"
"No..." I shook my head.
"No medical tape or anesthesia or anything?"
"Not that I know of, I've never actually stayed at a hospital ever, except for with my sister when I was younger. I have pretty much been healthy my whole life." I shrugged.
"Okay, no problem." Dr. Robinson said. "I should go get ready." She pointed out the door. "I'll have some of mine and Sam's friends come in and help you get prepped and ready for surgery, okay?"
"Okay."
"See you after."
With that, she left the room.
I looked toward the door then at Sam. "Friends?" I questioned, fiddling with my hands in my lap.
"Yup friends. I'll introduce them to you first and then we'll get going," She said.
The people came into the room one by one. Two males and one female nurse or so I guessed. I sucked on my lower lip and looked at my hands.
"Felix these are Max, Patrick, Ricky. They're my friends." They waved as their names were mentioned. "They're going to help us," Sam said smiling.
