I walked home last night and forgot to call my sister, like I said I was going to do. I came straight home and went to bed. So, I decided to call her this morning and bother her. I rubbed my temples walking into the bathroom. This morning I had the biggest headache ever, even more then whoever I was hung over. Searching for a bottle of pain reliever I swear I saw in here not to long ago, I found several of Vanessa hair ties (the ones she's always is looking for but can never find) and just threw them out, rolling my eyes at them.
The phone rang a couple times but eventually Felicity picked up. "Hi..." I said, not expecting the school from being the small room.
"Felix, are you in the bathroom?" She asked. I set my phone down on the sink. "Hmm? Oh yeah, I'm looking for some Advil." I said opening the cabinet under the sink, finding black hair dye.
I turned it over in my hands and shrugged.
It was from when Vanessa had a "mental breakdown" and had bought it on impulse. I persuaded her not to dye her hair because I liked her hair how it was and told her that she was perfect the way she is.
I scoffed, rolling my eyes at my past self.
"Why'd you call me?" My sister said blatantly. I looked at the phone and pressed the phone FaceTime button. "I was confused er, yeah confused and need to ask you a question... also dye my hair?" I questioned showing her the box. "Is that black?" She questioned. "Also what was the question? And why are you confused."
"Yeah, it's... black." I read the box and all it said was black. Felicity shrugged then nodded. "Why not? Go ahead... wait confusion, what are you confused?" She furrowed her brows at me. I saw her sipping something through a straw on the screen. The internet, judging by the lagging from the phone was not good on her end.
"Errrr... how'd you know you're bisexual?" I asked, I looked at her through the screen then started trying to read the directions on the box. They weren't clear and didn't really help me so I decided to wing it, as I did most things in life. She sighed, a long one. "Because." She shrugged. "I did, I guess... I don't know... but mom and dad still don't know so don't tell them yet."
"Hmm."
"Wait... are you having problems with your sexuality?" She asked raising her eyebrow, smirking. By the tone of her voice alone I knew she was teasing me. I looked up at the screen, not saying anything for a moment then looked away. "Uh... What?" I scoffed, rolling my eyes. "No, I- I uh... I made a friend and I think... he is."
"It would surprise me if you were." She said ignoring me. I narrowed my eyes at her, mixing the stuff with the other stuff to make the hair dye. "What do you mean?"
"I meeeean you've only had one relationship all your life so you hadn't had time to explore other possibilities, so if you were thinking that I wouldn't be surprised. Plus, you have really judgmental friends, so..." She shrugged. I looked away. "Right... well I'm not, so..."
"Right. Uh huh, then why'd you call?"
"My... hair." I lied.
"Your hair, really?" She raised an eyebrow. I nodded. "Mhm." I looked at the mixture of dye and raised my eyebrow to it. Felicity scoffed. "Right... call the girl with no hair about your hair." She touched the top of her head. She had a bandana on but even then you could tell she was bald. I guess it's because when she wasn't she wore the bandana all the time anyway.
I sucked in a breath, pressing my lips together. "Ha... yup. I'm full of smart ideas this week, aren't I?" I rolled my eyes at myself. Felicity narrowed her eyes at me."What do you mean? What else did you do?"
"Just... I got fired... from my job."
"Oh that's fantastic. Why?" She said sarcastically. I nodded and squirt the hair dye on my head. "Ummmm I don't want to talk about it." I rubbed the dye on my head with my hands.
"Felix..." she sighed. "You're supposed to put the gloves on when doing that."
I looked at my hands, they were turning black.
"They're going to black for a week." My sister said. I looked up at the phone and chuckled. "See, I knew you could help in some way."
She shook her head, rolling her eyes. "Whatever, you dork."
"Oh, I wanted to ask. How'd mom and dad react when I left?"
"They were so very happy." She responded sarcastically. I heard my door clicking and I rolled my eyes, expecting my landlord to bug me about rent again. I can only imagine his face when I tell him I lost my job,
I looked at the phone, my sister was eating some sandwich. I rinsed my hands quickly, or tried to. The dye rinsed down the drain but my hands were still stained. I shrugged looking at them and dried them. A bit of the color came off on the towel but I couldn't care less.
"What're you doing here?" I questioned as I walked out of the bathroom, stopping in my tracks as I saw Vanessa coming in through the hallway. She sighed all huffy like. "I- I just came to get my stuff." Her lip trembled.
I sighed, annoyed.
