"No stop! I'm sorry, I'm sorry." I backed myself into the corner of the kitchen. "You should've thought about that before you did it." He said, backing me further into the corner. I placed a hand on his chest. "Well, I've thought about it now so..."
He chuckled.
"A- and that one the best one."
"No, the best one is over there I made sure I specifically picked up this one."
There was still blue icing on his face from when I tricked him into smelling a cupcake then smashing it into his face. I thought I was pretty clever until he wanted payback.
He looked at the cupcake in his hand and then to me with a sly smile plastered on his face. "Okay okay okay... okay wait," I said trying to think of something to do to not get a cupcake on my face. "Umm..." I looked at him and kissed him.
He kissed back and I grabbed the hand that the cupcake was in and smooshed it between our hands. He pushed me back and I grinned. "Ha, I got—." I felt smushed cake and icing from Ben's palm in my face. "... you."
"You didn't think of that, did you?"
"Nope, I honestly deserved that." I wiped my face with a paper towel.
"I'd say, conejito." Ben chuckled.
"Mhm..." I licked the cake and icing from my hand. "We're not that bad at baking. The cakes a little dry though."
He grabbed my wrist and brought my hand to his mouth licking the cake from my finger. "It doesn't taste dry to me."
"Th-... that's because you just licked all the icing," I scrunched my nose at him, chuckling.
"We just wasted two cupcakes because of you." He turned and wiped the icing from his hand. I looked at my hand. "Uh no, I wasted one. You didn't have to waste the other one." I turned the sink on and put my hand under the sink rinsing off the cupcake.
"Well, you didn't have to waste the first one." He joked. "Do you think your sister will be fine with chocolate cake and vanilla icing?"
"That's all there was at the store when I went so she better be. Plus, they're chocolate cake and blue icing, not vanilla. Also, why'd she tell you she wanted us to bring cupcakes?"
"Blue isn't a flavor, mi amor. You just used food-coloring in vanilla icing and..." he shrugged. "she said she wanted them."
"Well, I-."
There was a knock at the door.
"Who's that?" My eyes widened.
I don't think Ben told anybody where we lived and I didn't.
He shook his head. "I don't know who did you tell?" he asked. I shook my head. "I- I didn't tell anybody. Who did you tell?"
"I only told your sister and it's not like she could get here on her own."
"Well um... I'll go see who it is. It's probably the... um, the mailman or something."
PWe were whispering by now."Felix... we don't get mail, not yet."
There was another knock at the door.
"Uh... still." I started walking to the door. He pulled me to his chest. "Stop it, I'm sure it's fine." I pulled his arm off me.
"I don't wanna take the chances, what if..."
We stood there looking at each other in silence for a couple of moments.
I swallowed thickly. "We'll open it together then." I looked at him. "Plus, It doesn't seem like they're going away without talking to at least one of us."
