I rolled my eyes trying to hold back a smile. I watched Sam back out of the room and chuckle a bit at my sister presence. Felicity sat down in a chair near the bed and blew a breath out from her mouth. "And I thought I looked rough."
"Shush your mouth." I said, giving her a half hearted smile. I wasn't sure if I was ready to tell anybody let alone my sister what happened to us. I didn't even want to think about it myself. I looked at her from looking at my food on the rolling table, to ask her a question. "What're you doing here?"
She shrugged. "Oh you know just came to steal your food." She chuckled. I looked at the food somehow not hungry anymore. "You can have it."
Felicity tilted her head. "You must be sick. You never let me have your food, now matter how bad it is." She cupped her hand around her mouth and lowered her voice as if she were telling a secret. "And trust me Hospital food is the worst." She chuckled. I smiled, not lasting. "I'm just not hungry... but I am kind of thirsty and my mouth is dry... so can you hand me that water bottle?"
She nodded and reached for the water bottle opening it before handing it to me. "Thanks." I said, taking a sip. She nodded then observed me. "I think this is the first time you were in a hospital bed and I wasn't."
"Not funny." I frowned. She shrugged. "Just sayin'..."
I sighed. "I've missed you and... I'm sorry I was gone for so long." I tightened my grip on the water bottle hearing it crinkle under my palms. Felicity made a disgusted face. "Are you turning all mushy on me?"
I rolled my eyes. "I'm serious."
She smiled and pushed my shoulder lightly. "I'm playing. You don't have to be sorry for wanting something different and going to find yourself."
"Always the poet." I took another drink of the water, smiling at her. She rolled her eyes. "I've missed you too little brother."
"You only have one little brother." I said holding up a finger. "And I'm only younger by a half a minute."
"Wrong, it was a minute and a half."
I rolled my eyes. "Same difference."
"You're still younger."
"Am not."
"Are too." She argued. I huffed. "Fine, whatever. How have things been here?" I asked not really knowing if I wanted to know the answer. Felicity looked at me like she knew what I was thinking. She sucked a breath in slowly. "Um... I- fine... I guess." She shrugged. I felt like that wasn't the truth and she was only telling me what she thought I needed to hear... which was fine. I think I have enough to worry about beside my family troubles.
"Are you going to eat that?" She asked breaking somewhat of an awkward silence. She pointed to the soup and the water bottle on the grey tray. I looked at it and my stomach grumble uncomfortably and not hungrily. I shook my head. "No... I don't think so. I don't have much of an appetite."
"Hmm." She looked like she was trying to decide if she wanted to say something or not. She stared at the wall for a while then looked at me, something in her expression changing from happy to a little concerned and maybe sad. "I'm not sure if you want to hear this right now but I'll tell you anyway, they were asking about you."
I knew which they she meant and my heart fluttered in hope for a second. "We're they here? We're mom and dad here?"
She looked down and shook her head. "No, I took the bus because they both made an excuse not to come but I don't want you to worry about them Felix. I support you." She smiled. I pushed my lips into a half hearted smile and nodded. "I'm... not worried and...thank you."
