Rebecca's POV-
I ran as fast as I could down the stairs trying to get away. Away from the dark figure that chased after me with no mercy. I tried to listen out for any signs of how close it was, but it was too clever. It made sure that I never knew where it was, only that it was always there.
By the time I reached the bottom of the stairs the front door was is in my sight and without hesitation I headed straight towards it. Soon enough I was less than a metre away with my arm stretch out towards the door handle. I was so close and the monster knew that, it knew that I had never been this close before, this close to escaping.
And that's when I knew it was too good to be true because the second my hand gripped the door handle, it disappeared. It vanished like it was never there in the first place. My hopes of escape gone with it.
Being stopped in my tracks with no where to go I felt a warm breathe on the back of my neck causing the hairs on my arms to stand on edge. I was frozen in place too scared to turn around. It had never gotten this close to me before and I was terrible.
As it's breathe got closer to my neck I sensed it's claw reaching out to grab me, but just before it could...
*SMASH*
I jumped up in my bed covered in sweat as I frantically searched my room for the monster only to realise that it was all just a dream. I felt relief knowing that it wasn't real and that I was safe.
As I started to relax and gain control of my nerves, I stood up and made my way to the bathroom. I quickly turned the light on and looked at my reflection in the mirror.
I was a mess.
Looking over at the clock on the bathroom wall I saw that it was only 4am, so I decided to head back to bed. But as I made my way there I heard another *SMASH*
Quickly realising that it had come from downstairs I slowly started to make my way down there. As I reached the bottom step I scanned the front room to see my dad sat down on the sofa facing away from me.
"Dad?" I asked quietly as I made my way towards him.
"What are you doing out of bed?" He asked not turning around to look at me.
"I heard a noise and got worried." I answered making my way around to the side of the sofa so I could see him.
He was just sat there staring at the wall with a beer in his hand. It was obvious now that he was drunk. Slowly I followed his gaze over to the wall that he was staring at. Straight away I saw 3 beer bottles smashed on the floor directly in front of it like they had been thrown at the wall. That's when I realised where the loud shattering noises must have come from.
"Go back to bed." He demanded as he turned to look at me.
"What happened? Are you hurt?" I asked out of pure concern. I had never seen him so out of it before.
"This is all your fault!" He hissed slamming his beer on the table as he stood up quickly making his way towards me.
"Wait.. what did I do?" I stuttered not sure of what I did wrong.
"You... you'll pay for this!" He slurred as he grabbed me pushing me back against the wall.
I tried to push him off of me, but he was too strong, his grip was too tight. And the more I resisted the tighter his grip got.
"Dad... you're hurting me." I whimpered out.
"Not as much as you hurt me!" He shouted back.
"What did I do?" I asked pleading with him to just tell me why he was so mad at me.
"It... it's all your fault!" He repeated now pinning my arms on either side of my head fully trapping me between him and the wall.
"And now you're going to pay!" He continued.
Why wouldn't he just tell me what I did wrong. All I wanted to do was fix it.
His grip on my wrists started to loosen as he finally let go. But before I could started to feel happy about it I felt his hand grip around my throat. Straight away panic started to set in as his grip tightened. My hands quickly shot up to the one he had around my neck as I desperately trying to pull it off.
"Please stop." I whispered out as his grip started to tighten.
But to my relief he stopped. He let go of his grip on my throat, but as quick as he did that his hands moved to pinning my arms straight back to where they were before as he lent into my ear and whispered.
"Next time, I wouldn't stop." And with that he left and headed upstairs.

I did want to leave a little disclaimer though that I did have a very merry Christmas and by merry I mean I have had quite a bit to drink, so If this part is rubbish then don't blame me because I only just wrote it :)
Anyways...
