Rebeccas POV-
After the nurse gave me the all clear, Lexie insisted on showing me where the reception was so I could get my new schedule.
"It says I have a Mr Richards first for Science." I said reading from my schedule.
"No way! Me too! Let me see the rest of your lessons." Lexie basically squealed as she snatched the piece of paper right out of my hand.
As she examined my schedule I saw the smile on her face start to get bigger and bigger as she compared it to hers.
"We have all of the same classes! Can you believe it?" She asked now handing me back my schedule with a massive grin on her face.
Without even giving me time to answer she continued. "This is going to be so great, I can just tell that we're going to be great friends Rebecca Wilson."
"Great, I can't wait." I replied with a hint of sarcasm, but if she noticed she didn't show it, she just keep that big smile on her face (which I was actually growing to like) and started showing me to our first lesson.
On the way there I noticed that she kept stealing glances at me any time I looked away. Maybe she was still unsure if I was fine or maybe she did sense my sarcasm. I mean, I wasn't trying to be rude. It's just that she's so... nice. It's not a bad thing, I'm happy she's nice. But I'm just not use to her level of nice or this towns level of nice.
At my old school if you bumped into someone they would just shout at you to 'Watch where you're going'. Here was just so different and I was really starting to like it.
When we finally got to the class all I had to do was explain what happened and apologise to the teacher for being late and he just told me not to worry about it. He even asked if I was okay. This is what I mean by different. At my old school the teacher would have probably made me make up for the time I missed after school or something stupid. And never in a million years would any of the teachers would have asked if I was okay, they would have just assumed I was lying.
After science , I had maths with Mrs Watson. And then before I knew it, it was break time.
"Hey, how about you hang out with me and my friends for break?" Lexie asked me as we both got up to leave the classroom.
"You sure they won't mind?" I asked not wanting to intrude.
"Of course they won't, I bet they'll really like you. They're really nice people. Trust me." Lexie said as she pulled me into the hallway.
She continued to hold my hand in hers as she half pulled, half dragged me to the cafeteria. Our hands fit perfectly together which made me smile, but I was pretty sure that she was only doing it in a friendly way, nothing more. Even if i was maybe hoping that it could have meant something more.
Once we reached the table, Lexie introduced me to her friends. "Hey guys, say hello to Rebecca. She's new here and I kind of bumped into her earlier, like literally. So be nice to her."
As I looked around the table all three of them just smiled back at me, they seemed really nice, but I just sort of felt like I was intruding.
"Hey, I'm Hannah. I hope Lexie didn't hurt you, she's just so clumsy sometimes." The brunette girl closest to me on the left said with a playful smile. "You'll get used to it, trust me."
With that I glanced over at Lexie to see her slightly blush from her friends comment. It was cute to see that side of her.
"I bet I will, but don't worry the nurse gave me the all clear." I replied trying to be friendly and stop Lexie from feeling so bad. And it worked, I saw her start to smile, that was until the guy sitting next to Hannah made a comment.
"The nurse, you had to go to the nurse? Damn, Lexie! I knew you was clumsy but I don't know how you managed to accidentally tackle the poor girl." He laughed causing everyone else to join in.
"Rebecca meet the clown of the group, Noah." Lexie said glaring at him, causing him to stop laughing.
"Oh yeah, sorry. I'm Noah and Hannah here is actually my girlfriend ." He said smiling at me and then wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her into a cute hug.
"It's fine, it's nice to meet you Noah." I said returning the smile.
Lexie then introduced the guy on the right as Mike. He just sort of sat there analysing me for what seemed like ages until he finally spoke.
"OMG, you're gay!" He bursted out with the biggest grin on his face. This left me so shocked, like how did he know? Straight away my face started to go slightly red.
No one at my old school knew and that was for a very good reason. I didn't want them to know and thats because I didn't want to get beaten up. Let's just say my old school was very homophobic.
"W-What?" I stuttered, no sure what to say. No way was this actually happening.
"Hey don't worry, me too!" Mike continued.
"My gaydar is never wrong. It's nice to meet you Rebecca." He said holding his hand out for me to shake. After the shock wore off and I looked at Lexie and the others to see that they were smiling as well. I decided to just shake his hand and stop worrying. I guess this place really was different.
"I guess it nice to meet you too. I'm actually sort of glad that I'm not the only gay person here." With that he gave me a puzzled look.
"You mean to tell me you don't know?" He asked glancing over at Lexie.
"Know what?" I asked getting even more confused.
"I'm gay as well." Lexie said smiling at me with a slight blush.
No way! No way in hell was I this lucky. I just assumed she was straight, I mean I've never really crushed on many girls before but the ones I have liked, have all been straight. Meaning nothing could have ever happen. Could today seriously get any better!
"Sorry, I just assumed. I mean my gaydar is so bad." I said.
"Don't worry about it, to be honest I wasn't completely sure about you either. Being one of the reasons I brought you over to meet Mike, he can always tell. It's like he has some crazy gay super power."
After that me and Lexie sat down and they all just asked me a few questions about myself. Like, why I moved here and who with? After filling them in on my dads new job and my mother passing away, the bell rang and Lexie and Hannah walked me to our next class.
Before I knew it the school day was over and I was saying good bye to my new friends outside of the school entrance. Luckily though it turned out that Lexie also got the school bus home so we sat at the back together.
"So, how was your first day?" Lexie asked as she turned in her seat to face me.
"It was actually really good. I sort of bumped into this girl as the start of the day though, she nearly gave me a concussion." I replied with a half laugh trying to be cheeky.
"Oh really, well I bet she didn't mean to. I even bet that she wants to take you out for a coffee tomorrow after school to make up for it." Lexie said with a nervous but yet confident smile.
"Does she now? Well, I do love coffee." I smiled back.
"It's a date." Lexie said looking at me for reassurance.
"I guess, it is."
