Rebecca's POV-
The sound of my phone ringing pulled me from my sleep.
As I sat up and reached for my phone I winced in pain. That's when the memories hit me. The memories that explained the piercing pain shooting through my stomach.
But with that I quickly answered.
"Hello?" I asked answering the phone in my half asleep state.
"Hey, did I wake you?" A familiar voice asked.
The confusion caused me to realise that I hadn't even looked to see who was calling me. To my surprise it was Lexie.
"Oh hey Lexie. Wait... what time is it?" I asked realising that it looked darker outside than it did when I got home.
"It's 7pm. I was just calling because you said you would text me and you didn't." She said with a hint of disappointment.
"God, I'm sorry. I must have fallen asleep." I rambled as I quickly sat up on my bed.
"Ahhh!" I hissed at the sudden shooting pain through my stomach. This causing me to drop my phone.
Shit! I thought as I quickly grabbed my phone back up.
"Are you okay? What happened?" Lexie questioned with obvious concerned in her voice.
"It... it was nothing. I'm fine. I just fell off my bed. You know me. Clumsy as always." I said forcing a laugh.
"Wow. Well are you sure you're okay?" She asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Trust me." I answered just hoping she would change the subject. The last thing I need was for her to know about these new bruises.
"Good. Well I was mainly wondering if you wanted to come over tomorrow because we still need to finish our project." She asked.
"Um... I don't think I can. I promised my dad that I would stay home with him tomorrow." I lied. But my dad didn't have work this Sunday, so he'd be home all day and I really don't want to face him.
"Oh okay. What if I come to yours though?" She asked.
God! I love this girl, but can she not take a hint.
"My dad's going to be home." I answered hoping she'd think that I just didn't want my dad to know I was gay. I mean I don't, but there's no way Lexie can meet my dad. No way.
"He doesn't have to know. You can just say that I'm your friend from school or something." She continued.
"I can't. I mean, I don't want to lie to him." I said.
"Okay, I understand. I guess I'll see you Monday then." She said with a sad hint to her voice.
"Yeah, you will. Bye." Was all I said before hanging up.
I hated lying to her, but I had no other option.
Lexie's POV- (next day)
Rebecca left so fast yesterday that I was slightly confused. When she answered the phone call from her dad, it sounded like he was mad at her for being out. Did she lie to him about where she was or something?
But then after she left she didn't text me when she got home. I didn't want to sound clingy or anything but I was really disappointed, so I called her instead. She said that she fell asleep, but I wasn't too sure and then when I asked if she wanted to finish the project today. She said no.
Did she not want to hang out with me or something? Did I do something wrong? It kind of felt like she was ashamed of me when I suggest that I meet her dad. I get that she's in the closet, but she's met my parents and they absolutely adore her. I guess I just wish I could meet her dad as well.
But now it was Sunday and I had nothing to do.
With that thought, I got a text. It was Mikey. After I sent the group chat a text about Rebecca's bruise yesterday they had all gotten back to me and just as I expected they were just as confused and annoyed as I was.
Rebecca's bruise was big and dark meaning Sam must have hit into her pretty hard to cause that. I've never seen a bruise that bad before and to be honest I was shocked at how fast it formed. But Sam did that to my Rebecca and there's no way I was going to let her get away with it and let's just say Mike, Hannah and Noah were all in agreement.
So we made a plan.
Mike: So, everyone knows the plan for tomorrow, right?
Hannah: Of course. We have gym second lesson tomorrow and Sam is always the last one to leave. So we'll catch her then.
Noah: Sounds perfect. Lexie, have you told Rebecca to meet us at the library?
Me: Yep. We'll be on the other side of the school when I let her know that I forgot my kit in the changing room, so I'll meet you there just in time.
Hannah: We'll have a maximum of 10 minutes then before Rebecca will get suspicious.
Mike: That's all we need.
With that the plan was set.
Rebecca's POV-
That Sunday was pretty boring. I didn't dare leave me room more than I had to.
I did get a text from Lexie though saying that she wanted us to go to the library for break tomorrow, so we can finish off our project. I actually couldn't wait for school. I was already started to miss Lexie, Mikey, Hannah and Noah. They were the nicest friends I could have ever asked for when I moved here. So for that reason, I needed to protect them.
