Rebecca's POV-
Before I knew it, it was the end of the school day and I found myself walking towards my first ever detention.
It's not like I was an angel at my old school, but the teachers there just didn't care. They'd rarely give out detentions because they couldn't be bothered to stay at school any longer than they had to. So I guess you could say I was lucky.
"Ahh... Miss Wilson. How nice of you to join me." The headteacher said as I stepped into the detention room.
Not wanting to be sarcastic though I just nodded my head and took the seat closed to the door. The less time I had to be here the better.
"Your hour starts now." He said starting a timer. That's when I realised I was the only one there. Was I really the biggest troublemaker in the whole school?
Detention felt like forever which annoyed me seeing as I had only just started the 2 weeks. Once it did finish though I found Lexie outside the classroom waiting for me.
"You didn't have to wait you know." I said feelings guilty.
"I know, but I wanted too. Plus your coming over to my house to finish the project, so it's just easier." She replied with a smile as we made our way out of the school and onto the school bus.
My side was still killing me, but I was finding it easier to mask the pain. Saying that though, tennis didn't exactly help. I'm normally really good at it, but I wasn't able to try that much, so Lexie inevitability won. She won every single game until both me and my side had had enough and I decided to get out of by telling Lexie I was 'too tired'. Which worked.
When we got to Lexie's house we headed straight to her room and got to work.
"What time do you have to be home?" Lexie asked as she pulled out our project from her bag.
"5pm, so I only have like half an hour." I said sitting next to her on her bed.
"I guess we better get started then." She said and with that we got to it.
We didn't have much left to do, so I knew it wasn't going to take us that long. The only problem though was that Lexie kept getting distracted. Every 2 minutes or so she would get a text. I don't know who it was, but they were very persistent and I guess Lexie felt the need to reply straight away.
"You know we won't finish in time if you don't stop texting." I said with a side glance as I was starting to get slightly annoyed. Time was ticking and I had to get home soon.
"I know, I'm sorry." She said putting her phone down.
As it reached 4:50pm, time had run out, but thankfully we were done.
"All finished." I said with a smile as I stood up and packed my bag.
"Wait, we need to sort out the order of who presents what?" Lexie said quickly standing up.
"We can sort that out later. Just text me or something." I said making my way to the door.
"Wait! But... but we need to sort it out now." She half shouted as she moved towards me quickly grabbing my arm.
"Chill, it's really not that important. Plus I really need to go or I'm gonna be late for dinner." I said turning away from her to reach out for the door handle, but before I could open it, it opened for me.
As I took a step back from the door they entered. Mike, Hannah and Noah. To say I was confused was an understatement.
"Hey, what are you guys doing here?" I asked not sure why they didn't tell me they were coming.
"I invited them." Lexie said from behind me.
"That's fun, but I really have to go now." I said as I started walking to the door.
To my surprise though Noah stepped in front of me blocking my way. Everyone had a look of concern written across their faces and that confused me even more.
"What the hell Noah! Can you move?" I asked, but he didn't.
"Rebecca... I told them. I told them about your bruise." Lexie stuttered from behind me.
With that I turned around to face her.
"You did what? You had no right!" I said with a stern look.
Why would she do that?
And as if she heard the question, she answered.
"I was worried and there was no way I was letting Sam get away with something like that." She said slightly looking down, avoiding eyes contact.
"Was? What did you do?" I asked as my heart rate started to increase. I didn't like Sam, but she didn't do anything wrong.
"Technically, I didn't do anything." Lexie said lifting her gaze to look behind me.
"Okay, then tell me Lexie. What did they do?" I said taking a step towards Lexie forcing her to look at me.
"Nothing. They just helped me talk to her." She said, now the worry in her eyes directed straight at me.
"God, Lexie! I told you not to do anything. You promised!" I shouted now lowering my glaze.
"It wasn't her fault, Rebecca. She was worried about you." Mike said stepping forward.
"I didn't asked her to worry about me and I didn't ask you guys to either." I said turning to face them.
"If we have nothing to worry about then show us." Hannah said stepping into the conversation.
Now this really caught me off guard. There was no way I could show them. If Lexie saw that it was bigger then she would ask more questions. Questions I really wasn't prepared to answer.
"No." Was all I said as I made my way towards the door at a fast pace.
But before I even got close, Lexie grabbed me from behind wrapping her arm around me.
"I need to go, I'm going to be late." I said trying to push my way out of her grip, but she was too strong. Or maybe I was too weak.
"We know Sam didn't cause the bruise." Hannah said and with that I froze.
Now what? What could I possibly say to that. I mean technically I never said Sam caused it, but there was no way I could tell them the truth.
"We just want to help you, Rebecca. Just tell us where you really got it from?" Hannah continued.
"Just leave it alone. I didn't ask any of you to get involved!" I shouted trying to force back any tears that threatened to fall. I had to stay strong.
"But we just want to help you." Noah said looking more worried than everyone else.
"If you want to help then forget about it. It was a one time thing that will never happen again." I said almost pleading with them.
"Okay." Lexie said from behind me as she let me go.
"But if it happens again, I'll want answers." She said holding my hand in hers.
"We will want answers." Mike said.
