Rebecca's POV-
As I entered my first period, I headed straight to the back of the class and sat down. I was still caught up in my thoughts and over thinking what had happened last night that I didn't even notice Lexie take a seat next to me, so it was a surprise when I felt her tap me on the shoulder.
"I called your name like three times, you sure you're okay?" She asked looking at me with concern.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just tired. What was it that you wanted?" I asked trying to focus on something other than my thoughts.
"I'm trying to give you back your phone. You know because you left it at Mike's house last night." She said now holding out my phone in front of me.
"Oh yeah, thanks. I almost forgot about that." I said offering her a smile.
"That reminds me, Mike wanted to say thanks again for helping him last night. Your plan worked perfectly." Lexie said smiling back as our conversation started to flow again.
"Oh that. That was nothing. I'm just glad I could help." I replied now finally starting to relax.
With that the classroom door closed as Mrs Brady our English teacher entered. "Morning class, so first things first. I want everyone to get into pairs for your first assignment of the year. As we are starting Literature we will mainly be focusing on Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, so your assignment is going to be simple. In your pairs you both need to read Act 1, Scenes 1&2 and then make a poster summarising what has happened in them scenes. Now use this lesson to get started because this is due Tuesday next week." She finish now taking at seat at her desk.
"So partner, how about you come to my house tonight so we can start the poster?" Lexie asked.
This caught me off guard. I'd love to go to her house, trust me, I would. But the last thing I want to do right know is to make my dad angry again.
"Tonight... um I don't think I can. I mean, I still have quite a bit to unpack." I replied trying to think of an excuse.
"Okay, so how about this weekend then? It's Wednesday now, so you should be finished by then, right?" She asked with a questioning look.
"Yeah, of course. Let me just check with my dad tonight." I replied with a smile and this seemed to satisfy her.
For the rest of that lesson we all read in silence.
After the class had ended we had History with Mr Jones which went pretty fast. Soon enough it was break, so me and Lexie met Mike, Hannah and Noah at the cafeteria.
"Here she is! My actual life savour!" Mike squealed when he saw me.
That caused Lexie to giggle as she moved towards the table and took a seat.
"Me? No, that was nothing. I'm just happy it worked and that no one got into trouble." I said taking a seat across from Lexie and next to Mike.
"Don't be so modest Rebecca. Mike told us about your revenge plan. It was pretty cool of you to help." Noah interjected.
"Yeah, it was." Hannah added offering me a smile.
After that the conversation changed to peoples plans for the weekend, which I thought was weird because we were only half way through the week. But this topic caused Lexie to smile.
"Well, me and Rebecca have an assignment due Tuesday so she'll probably be coming over to mine." Lexie said directing it at the rest of the group as I was fiddling with my phone.
But this definitely caused me to look up and with that I saw a few smiles from the rest of the group.
"Ooo, really? So are you two having a sleepover or something then?" Mike asked now grinning at both me and Lexie.
