Jade POV

Beep beep beep.....

The tiny hotel alarm clock went off at 5:30am. Crystal sat up and stretched her arms, but Lyla didn't stir.

"What a deep sleeper!" I said and Crystal giggled.

"I'll get up and make some shrimp for me and Lyla since you're off to your new job at Rikki's." Crystal said as she walked into the kitchen to defrost the fish.

"Okay, no problem. Get Lyla up and around because I'll be home at 3:00pm." I grabbed my bag, smoothed my hair, and walked down to the lobby.

Crystal POV

"Get up Lyla, Jade had to go to work." I said.

Nothing happened. Only the sound of the tiny curled fish sizzling on the pan.

"LYLA, GET UP." Still nothing.

"Lyla, I made shrimp, now up you ge-"

She bolted up, sniffed the musky air and said "Do I smell shrimp?"

I rolled my eyes.

-Jade POV-

I had already been working for 5 hours, and it was pretty fun. I helped customers with their orders, made juices, some fruit dishes, cleaned up, and saw Logan.

"Oh. Fancy seeing you here." He smiled.

"Oh hi, Logan." I stumbled and threw my hands across the counter, knocking some empty cups to the tile floor. I chuckled nervously.

"You remembered me!" He smirked playfully.

I smiled and teased, "Don't flatter yourself."

A girl a year younger than me in a pink shirt appeared at the counter.

"Can I have wheatgerm smoothie or not? I've been waiting ages."

I took over, "Of course you can. It'll be 3 minutes and 23 seconds." I walked past Logan, drifting his Axe scent with me. I grabbed white yogurt, milk, and wheat germ for the blender.

"Here you go." I handed a very impressive smoothie to the girl.

"Right on time, thanks!" A bright smile fell across her face as she handed me a tip.

"This is why I work.....and boys. More like just Logan. "

Lyla POV

"When is Jade coming back?" I asked, annoyed at how long this shift lasted.

"It's already 2:00pm she'll be home in an hour, calm your clam shells." Crystal sat down and texted Rikki.

"I thought it was 'calm your crab shells'?" I asked, feeling my mermaid pendant.

"Maybe. Clam is catchier." Her perfect black hair was pulled into a small bun on her head. My super long brownish - blonde hair was in a pony tail with loose waves. I wish they were natural, but my hair is ultra straight.

"Woah. You'll never guess!" Crystal exclaimed and pointed towards her phone.

"What did she say?" I stood behind her and looked at Rikki's message.

Oh Jade's doing fine. She's working at a juice place called Rikki's. Ironic right? Lol.

Oh yeah, Rikki's? That's me and Zane's café company. Cool, I never knew we had one in Atlanta! :)

Cool? I never knew you owned a company!

"Well that's pretty awesome! I'll text Jade."

Someone opened our door. "Hey guys! I brought food!" It was Jade, and she brought us sandwiches.

"You seem happier than usual." I gave her the spill look.

"Oh ok. I saw this guy, and he was-"

"Oh here we go!" I laughed.

"No really, his name is Logan. I think he said something about having two other friends, named Chase and Tom."

"Are they hot?" I grabbed a sandwich and took a bite.

"I havent met them so I wou-"

"I've lost interest." I said with my mouth full.

"Whatever, Lyla..." We all laughed.

"What I mean is, don't get too involved because we need to leave soon." I gave them a serious look.
