Jade POV
It was already 6:00, so I called Crystal.
"Hey Crystal , my mom volunteered to drive us to the airport." I looked at my mom and she just raised her eyebrows.
"Oh, yeah, of course that would be awesome!!" Crystal replied and I could hear her telling her dad.
"Okay I'll pick you up in three minutes."
I hung up and immediately called Lyla.
"Lyla? We don't have much time, but is it okay if my mom-" I started, but Lyla cut me off in a younger sounding voice and said something familiar.
"Hey it's your friend Dee-lilah!"
She held out the D in her name. And that's when I realized this was her voicemail from 7th grade.
"Ugh!" I hung up and just told mom to drive to Lyla and Crystal's houses. It was a three minute drive, and the car clock read 6:05. Crystal ran outside her house and threw her luggage in the trunk.
We got to Lyla's house and no one was waiting outside. Tired of waiting, I ran inside to find no one. I ran upstairs calling her name and found her on her bed asleep.
"Oh my gosh!!! Wake up!! We're going to miss the flight!" I shook her hard and she stirred, falling back asleep.
"Okay, that's it!" I said to no one in particular, and using my oh-my-gosh strength I lifted Lyla bridal style and carried her to the car.
Everyone's faces were priceless.
Still in minor rage, I cried "I was on the swim team you know!"
It was 6:08 and it took twenty minutes to get to the airport. So, 6:28pm.
Lyla slowly woke up on the drive there.
"Thank goodness i have friends like you!" She said.
We rushed in, and got checked in. Then we ran to the bag checking area and it took forever to get through.
Finally it was over and we went on some strange thing that drove us to our airplane on tracks that were attached to the side of the building.
We held the poles that came down from the ceiling and looked out the see through walls.
With only the tracks beneath us for support, I was very relieved when we finally decended down.
Flight attendants handed us all boarding passes.
"First Class?!?" Lyla screamed.
Our seats were in rows of three, and we made our way to our seats, which according to the pass, were seats
65, 66, and 67.
Lyla POV
"Where is mom?!" The question finally erupted.
It was 10 'til 7:00, so i was freaking out. Once we arrived at our seats, my question was answered.
Mom was sitting by Heather in the seats in front of us.
Woah, woah, HEATHER?!? WHAT IS SHE DOING HERE?!?
First class has advantages: extra leg room, free food, free drinks, slide out trays, free Wi-Fi, snuggies and other things.
Its pretty awesome!
"Took you guys long enough." My mom teased.
"Uh, you never told me Heather was coming too!" I confronted.
"ATTENTION PASSENGERS, THIS IS PILOT CHASE TUCKER AND WE ARE ASCENDING IN 3 MINUTES." A loud voice stated over the plane's intercom.
I just sighed and sat down.
The plane scooted towards the runway, and I looked out the window. The loud voice boomed again.
"ATTENTION PASSENGERS. WE WILL BE LIFTING OFF IN EXACTLY 60 SECONDS."
I felt sudden pressure on my ribcage and by the looks of Crystal and Jade, I knew they felt it too.
"H-hold my hand!" Crystal whimpered.
I had window seat, Crystal had middle seat, and Jade had the outside seat. My right hand was busy hanging on to the armrest for dear life, so i grabbed Crystal's hand with my leftie. Jade grabbed Crystal's other hand.
The pressure got stronger and I felt like I was literally the plane.
I felt every part of my body lifting off the ground.
I couldn't lift my back away from that seat for my life.
It was the strangest feeling! And looking out that small circular window, watching everything get smaller in the blink of an eye, I felt myself getting smaller.
Cars were ants.
Roads were long twigs.
Skyscrapers normally the biggest in town were a mere flower in the field of life.
"Humans have really done it." I thought. We can 'fly' above the Earth, and zoom into space. How the crap do you come up with this?
This being my first flight, I was pretty terrified. My ears started popping once we lifted off the ground a good amount.
Attention passengers, we are as high as we are going to be for the remainder of this flight. We are 37,000 feet above the Gulf!
I smiled really excited and looked at Crystal and Jade.
"Do you feel better now?" I smirked at Crystal.
"Never been better!" She looked out the window.
