°Just Beneath the Waves°
Once we arrived at the Corner Café, Me, Jade, and Crystal all sat down at a table. As the waitress walked by, we all groaned.
Rylan.
With a bat of her eyelashes, she looked at us real snotty and said "what do you want?"
Ugh!! Rylan is the most popular, most snobby, rude, and stupid in the whole school.
The only reason she gets straight A's is because [suprise!] her dad is the principal. why am I so surprised?
"Look what the cat dragged in." I muttered under my breath.
"Um, excuse me?" she rolled her eyes and cocked her head. Did I mention she is the most girliest snob in the world? she would flood New Orleans if a speck of dirt landed on her Diamond Forever purse.
"Nothing. I want a medium coffee," i demanded and looked at Crystal and Jade, then added "make that three."
We fake smile as miss priss walks away.
As we were waiting for our coffees, I happened to notice Hunter sit down nearby.
Rylan served him, with an unnessesary giggle, wink, and smile. bad signs.
She handed him his coffee and then sat down beside him on her 'lunch break.'
I looked away, not wanting to waste my time on a guy who is obviously not into a loser like me.
"Umm guys..." i started, and my friends looked at me. "Nothing." I decided not to tell them yet.
The silence was interuppted.
"Three medium coffees?" A much nicer waitress asked and handed us a cup tray.
"Yes, thank you." Jade replied and grabbed her coffee.
When she grabbed it, the lid popped off!
"Ah!" Jade cried.
It was too late. The coffee was pouring down in slow motion.
Jade instinctively covered herself with her hand and.....it worked.
The coffee froze.
"Woah!" The waitress exclaimed.
We shared wide eyed glances before pouring out of the cafe.
We got to a quiet place to talk about what happened, but i heard a noise.
"Buzz buzz."
My leg vibrated. "Oh its my mom." I said and put the phone to my ear.
"Lyla! Guess what!" She said in a singsong voice.
"What is it this time? I don't mean to be rude, but i'm hanging out with my friends."
"Well, a woman called from Florida asking if i would take care of her mother."
"What do you mean?" I shook my head, confused.
Jade and Crystal looked at eachother, then back at me.
"She wants me to fly down there sunday evening, and fly back that saturday. She lives in Naples and there are beaches nearby. I called you because i wanted to ask if you, Heather, and two of your friends would like to fly out here with me and and stay until saturday. We leave at 7:00pm and its a three hour trip."
I was shocked. There was no need to explain to Jade or Crystal, because i turned it on speaker phone.
"Well, we would love to!" Crystal said with excitement.
Everyone nodded their heads in silent agreement as mom finished up.
"Well you guys have fun and you better start packing your bags!"
"Okay mom...wait, whats today?" I asked suddenly wondering.
"Today is saturday. You are leaving tomorrow. Bye honey, love you!."
She hung up before i could reply.
