Chapter 50

Deonell

"I'm getting married soon, Arieus." my father broke the news to me casually.

I dropped my spoon after I heard what he said. He just looked at me seriously, eyeing my reaction. I just couldn't react immediately because of shock.

He called me home for Christmas. I don't have any plans of going here because we're not in good terms.

I went to the Philippines and stayed at my Tita's house when my parents separated at that time. My father caught my mother cheating at him so he filed for divorce. Kahit ayaw kong bumalik na dito dahil sa galit, ginawa ko pa rin nang...pinabalik ako ni Tita Amber.

I went back to the Philippines again when I learned my father first cheated with my mother. I was so angry that I couldn't take it anymore. Umalis na ako ng bahay kasi sobrang gulo na noon.

My parents' marriage doesn't have a good foundation that's why they broke up. They are married here in States that's why they easily got divorced. My father wants to take custody with me and he...won. My mother is already married to someone else and now...

Umiling ako. "What do you mean you're getting..."

I couldn't finish my sentence when a woman suddenly came in from the door. Dad and I are eating in a restaurant for dinner to welcome my arrival. I thought this day is going to be normal and okay but I was wrong.

Emanuelle Velez, my girlfriend's mother, came in from the door and walked towards our direction. She waved her hands at my father before seating beside him. Sa harap ko mismo.

I couldn't explain what I felt at that moment.

"Hi!" she greeted my father.

When I saw them kissed each other in front of me, I don't know what to react. Einradelle's face immediately flashed in my mind. I imagined her rare smiling face slowly fading and that's what scared me the most at this moment. I imagined her crying and leaving me...that scared the shit out of me.

I fisted my hands underneath the table while they are exchanging pleasantries in front of me. I couldn't think of anything other than Einradelle. I just called her awhile ago and now...I don't think I can face her again. I am scared of what may happen to us after this.

Her Mom is engaged with my Dad.

That thought didn't sink in to me at first. I just stared at our parents being too touchy with each other.

Einradelle, Love, what will happen to us now?

"Nuelle, this is my son, Arieus." Dad introduced me to her.

I maintained a straight face while they are both looking at me. I tried not to get faltered and just equalled their meaningful stares towards me.

I looked at Emanuelle Velez and noticed their resemblance. Almost all of her features came from her Mom, even her upturned eyes and eyebrows that made her feisty-looking. I can see Einradelle in her and I couldn't help but think about her the whole time.

Her Mom's face lightened. "We met again, hijo..."

I pursed my lips. I understand what she meant. We met during my stay at Tita Amber's house. A video of Einradelle throwing a plate of pasta towards my direction went viral and I made a statement that I bullied her, causing her to do that to me.
