Shelby's P.O.V

I hear someone outside must be Don coming to get Pink. I see Jodi head out so I decided to follow her. Come to found out I was right because I see Don, Pink, and Benny standing outside the classroom. I also see Benny finished his paddle which means those freshman boys are dead meet. Ugh those poor kids!

I catch up to Jodi and stand next to her while she's talking to Benny. "Take it easy on my brother this summer all of you" Ok if Mitch wasn't a dead man before he is now. I drown out their conversation when I catch Pink looking at me. He smiles at me and I immediately get butterflies in my stomach. He looks away and says to Jodi "You got our word sis little brother will be ok" followed by a wink. Wait a wink? Not like I'm jealous or anything maybe it was just a wink to let her know they won't get her brother. Hopefully that's the case.

Jodi thanks them and walk away but before she can get far Benny smacks her ass with the paddle. We all laugh it off when she walks into the classroom. "That was bullshit right?" Don said and Benny responds with "Major bullshit he's a dead man, he's fucking dead!" "You wanna come Shelbs?" Pink asks me. "Sure why not" I respond. "Shotgun!" Pink and Don yell at the same time. "Yeah I'm not sitting in the back" I say. "Shelby sits in the middle, Pink next to her, and Don you get the back" Benny says. Don then says "Oh that's a perfect seating arrangement that way Pink can spend time with her and maybe conf-" Don can't even finish his sentence cause Pink cuts him off saying "Ok Don you made your point" Wait what was Don gonna say?

We all start walking outside while I walk behind the group for obvious reasons. "Why aren't you walking in front Shelbs?" Benny asks. "I'm not walking in front of you with that thing in your hand" I respond. He just laughs it off. Pink stays behind so I could catch up and walk with him.

"So you going to the hazing?" I ask. "Of course I am, do you really think I wouldn't miss you in action?" Does he mean he doesn't want to miss Simone in action? "What about Simone?" I ask. "I don't really wanna see her, I'd rather see you" he responds. I blush and look away. Gosh Randall Pink Floyd what are you doing to me?

Highway star is playing on the radio as we were driving to the middle school. I'm in the middle of Benny and Pink while Don sits in the bed of the truck. He keeps making funny faces through the window and I can't help but laugh. But I'm cut off by laughing when Pink puts his hand on my thigh, I immediately get butterflies in my stomach when I look at him to see him smiling at me. What is up with him? Not that I'm complaining though.

We arrive at the middle school and I can tell Benny is excited. He's been waiting to long for this, I just hope those kids have a lot of ice packs cause their gonna need them!

As we get out of the truck Pink, Don and I get on the bed of the truck while Benny is in the front holding a microphone about to talk to the freshman. "Ok all you freshman fucks listen up!" I couldn't help but laugh. Pink hands me a beer which I gladly take.

"So you excited for the hazing?" Pink asks me. "Eh I don't know, I mean I was excited but now I just feel bad for those girls remembering what I went through" I respond. "Hey man of you don't feel like hazing just come hang out with me and the guys we'll be there" Pink says. I smiled and nodded. He smiled back and god just his smile alone is perfect!

As we're driving back to the high school it's just silence just the sound of the truck and the radio is the only thing I hear. Until now... "Benny can I ask you a favor?" I ask. "Why yes you may Shelby Marie Pickford, what do you need?" He asks. I laugh at the middle name.

"Can you take it easy on them? like you can do how you were normally gonna do it but just don't go all O'Bannion on them" I said. Benny knows how O'Bannion can get. "I wasn't going to go that bad on them but they are in for a surprise" he says. I can't help but laugh.

But I can't help to think back to O'Bannion. Yes O'Bannion and I have a history but that's a story for another day. Pink can sense my mood because he grabs my hand and rubs circles around it with his thumb. He looks over to me and gives me a look as to say "It's ok" I smile and at him and lay my head on his shoulder. He immediately follows my action and leans his head on mine. Gosh Randy stop giving me butterflies!

As we pull into the school parking lot we pick up Melvin along the way. "Ah shit" Pink says and I look up and see the three football coaches. Oh great! We get out the car and I just stand in between Pink and Don and stay silent as they talk to the coach. "Any of you girls ready to play football this fall?" One of the coaches ask. "You know coach I've been doing so good in English class thinking about becoming a writer what do you think of that?" Benny says, this kid!

"Now don't go getting soft on me this summer your sitting at the pool all day chasing the muff around" coach says. Wait what! "Break down" all the guys break down except Pink he doesn't seem to be listening. I drown out everything else he says cause I keep trying not to laugh at Pink as he mocks the coach.

"What's the matter with you Floyd? What quarterbacks don't have to do what their coaches say, Dawson did you give him that pledge sheet yet?" Wait pledge sheet! What pledge sheet? "Yeah coach it's right here" Pink pulls out a piece of paper wait where did that come from?

Coach then went on about to have Pink give it back to them at the end of the day. We all start to walk away, that is until coach Conrad had something to say.

"Randy Floyd" oh shit! "Before next fall you better get an attitude adjustment young man. You better get your priorities straight. And watch out for bad crowd your running with don't think I haven't noticed." God I would hate to play for this guy. We start to walk away again but being the person he is, we for sure wasn't finished. "Hey! That paper better be signed before you leave here today"

Finally he's done. We start to walk back to the school, the guys were talking about what just happened. Pink crumbles up the paper and throws it. Looks like he's not signing that, but wait what's on it?

All of a sudden we hear a car pull up. No way! "Woah did you hear O'Bannion flunked?" Don says. "Yeah what a dumb shit" one of the boys says I couldn't make out who, I'm to upset. Your telling me I have o be stuck with this asshole for another year, no I'd rather shoot myself.

"Y'all ready to bust some ass?" He says. Pink notices my sudden change in my mood. "Hey why don't we go inside?, I don't think it's a good idea to talk to him" Pink asks me. I nod.

Now O'Bannion and I have a history. Long story short we used to date. I know I know your probably wondering "Why would you date that jerk?" Well when we were dating he wasn't one. He was sweet until one night. One night he and his dad got into a fight, and we'll let's just say he was angry and he took all his anger out on me.

I ended up with a black eye and a bloody lip. I had to call Pink to come pick me up because I know Kevin would be way to upset and go and try to find O'Bannion. Pink was also that way. But he understood that I didn't want to cause anything. Whenever O'Bannion is around Pink gets protective. That night is when my feelings got stronger for Pink.
