━━008,
something just feels different about you!
The golden aura that Adalaine had welcomed earlier that day had long passed. She bit her lip in disappointment, missing the way the sun dipped over the horizon and disappeared into the salty ocean water before the moon would take its place. Because Adalaine had found it to be one of her favorite moments in the day as it would never fail to calm her down. But as she finished off her sandwich in the back of the sputtering van that would no doubt break down sooner or later, with Kiara's phone streaming music through the old speakers, a smile appears on her face, realizing that the energy in the small space and the company of the four Pogues, though not quite as magnificent as the Kildare sunset, could very well be one of her new favorite moments of the day.
"You mind if I just relax on this one? It's been a long day, and a lot of weird stuff's gone down," JJ asks, a blunt rolled and ready to be smoked. "I'm just gonna lay low. Oh, did you want a hit of this, Nia?"
She shakes her head, "not right now, shark boy,"
"Suit yourself," he shrugs, "what about you Pope?"
"I keep the signal clear," Pope shakes his head.
Jj throws his head back, "Dude! Do you understand that your problem is that you don't get creative? If you got creative, then—"
But John B cuts him off before he can finish, "look, I- I know I was wrong about the lighthouse, all right? And wrong about everything else going on. But I— I was right about one thing. Okay? My dad is trying to tell me something,"
Adalaine places the empty tupperware beside her. She draws up her legs to her chest to let her head rest on top. "I hear you bandana boy, but where are we going?"
"Patience Addy," he says, leaning his head upwards to smile at her through the rear view mirror. "we'll be there in a few,"
It's only a few more minutes of driving but with the low tunes from the radio, plus with her stomach now filled with nutrients, she couldn't help herself but doze off. Pope who had been a short pillow for her on John B's porch was once again. He let his gaze fall down to their feet, to hide his smile and to ignore the daggers that Jj was directing towards him.
Now Pope didn't want the moment to end, because frankly, he couldn't seem to keep his eyes off the girl. Though it did, almost as quickly as it started when the brunet driving the van, slams on the breaks. Adalaine murmured a quiet, "thanks Francis," before the brunet boy was ushering all of them to get out.
"A cemetery?" Kiara asks, wrinkling her nose at the sight of the rundown gate.
"This is beyond unethical," Adalaine murmurs under her breath, but grabs Kiara's hand anyway to follow the three boys who were ahead of them.
