Sadness can be seen through multiple different mechanisms, anger, grief, (and if you are lucky) even acceptance. In a sense, the after-effects that sadness provides, can help one adapt in tough times. But is that the case of Adalaine Airoldi? For her brother and Rafe had proven to her again and again, that they are not to be trusted.

The girl doesn't feel safe in her house, let alone in her own room.

Adalaine Airoldi is a piece of art in the eyes of others. But for herself, she is far too incomprehensible. Nothing is obvious to her, it's not her idea of beauty.

And Amelie is all to blame for that.

So she lays awake, next to the blond beauty who, in her eyes, has done far too much for her. But what does that even mean?

Usually, Adalaine would embrace the silence, a way to ensure her own safety. But this time it felt suffocating.

With soft and careful movements, she picks herself up from the bed and heads to the door. Jj merely shuffles closer to the pillow where Adalaine had just laid and holds it closely. A small smile falls onto her soft features as she closes the door, cringing ever so slightly at the creak it makes.

She walks into the main room and sees Kiara laying awake on the couch. "Hi Kiwi,"

"Hi Ads," the curly-haired girl says with a smile. She makes her way over and joins Kiara, the two lay down, looking up at the ceiling that has severe water damage. "What happened yesterday? One second you were here, the next you were gone for hours. I was worried sick,"

"You guys all looked happy, like I didn't need to be there," Adalaine responds honestly. "Plus I just needed to go home,"

"I don't believe you for a second. But I'm far too tired to question it," Kiara says with a sigh. "Did Jj tell you about John B?" Adalaine shakes her head. "He came back, probably an hour or two after you left, and I have never seen him so upset, he told us that Ward killed his dad and took all the gold,"

"Oh my god," Adalaine whispers, guilt creeps into her soul as she had made such a big deal over herself last night... she didn't even question where John B had been. "Where is he? What should we do?"

"I have no idea," Kiara says with a sad shrug. "That's where we were last night, we were trying to find both of you,"

"He'll show up, right?" Adalaine asks, just as the sound of crunching gravel echoes through the property.

"There he is," Kiara says as they sit up, though John B doesn't head towards the house, instead he goes to the dock. "I- We should go check on him,"

"I'll go get on Jj," Adalaine says, "we'll come out soon,"

"Don't be long," the curly-haired girl hums before heading out the house.
