Being a beacon of light is quite rare, for you must have a special kind of aura around you. Often, Adalaine was not even on a list of contenders. Because the girl faked her smile far too often, but don't blame her, it came with the territory of living on Figure Eight ━━hell, it came with living on Kildare Island. But in this moment, it was easy to breathe! There was no ache in her chest and her legs felt free. The only complaint she had, wasn't a real one; for her cheeks were hurting from the smile that refused to fall.

For once, Adalaine was her own beacon of light, and she was fine that it wouldn't last.

The breeze that was running through Adalaine was exhilarating. Now, listen, she knew that riding a bike while marijuana was dancing through her veins, wasn't the best idea.

But this is why she did it anyway, one, it was barely six-thirty in the morning, no one else was in the streets! Two, well, she had done it many times before. Three, it was fun! She zigzagged across the usual busy street as the morning light fluttered through the trees and reflected onto the building. The scene was gold and utterly beautiful, it gave the young Airoldi girl a glow.

When she reaches the restaurant, ten minutes before her shift starts (but really, if you're not ten minutes early, you're already late), only one other car was on the premises. It was recognizable as Mike Carreras and then she realized something. Adalaine was very high (smoking an entire joint of Jj's weed would do that) and she had to suffer through a six-hour shift.

Adalaine was no saint, yes, some people perceived her as so but that would be far from the truth. She had a bad past and the only thing that was pushing her through the days and months of life, was her soft and sweet demeanor. But she wasn't perfect, no, she had been on shifts multiple times while inebriated. Only then, it was a small buzz and Kiara would be going through the motions with her.

This time, Adalaine wasn't close to coming down ━━no, at this rate, with her lack of dinner (again) and an entire joint, it'd be a few hours.

But luckily, it wasn't just Mike who stepped out of the truck, no, Kiara slammed the door before trudging to the other side, frustrated that she had to open the restaurant yet again. But before she walks up the steps, she follows the gaze of Mike's hand, waving at a certain brown-haired beauty, who was staring at them, with red cheeks and wide eyes, but a slight smile on her face nonetheless.

Kiara knew her friend well enough to recognize the look on her face as anything but sober. Adalaine was no stranger to the weed that even the Carerra daughter herself partook in, but she'd never seen the brunette be so careless to be this high when she knew she had to go to work.

But the issue with their relationship was, they never really let each other in that much. There were dozens of secrets buried in Adalaines's heart that she couldn't bear to say. So maybe Kiara knew that her home life was a disaster and her friends' brothers were...well...not great. But she didn't know what extent it was at
