━━016,
why is my presence so painful!?
The party had been packed full of people since ten. The hallways and rooms, people sitting on the stairs, beer cans and vodka bottles left on tables, a blasting stereo, haze from cigarettes and marijuana, one could barely see through the swarms of drunk teenagers. Everyone was desperate for a good time. Especially Adalaine Airoldi. It had been a less than perfect week in her eyes. Amelie had just arrived home from a lavish retreat in Europe. Adalaine had spent the entire week feeling relief and light as there were no harsh glares from her mother. But the second she stepped foot into the Airoldi Residence, it was like she never left.
"Oh Adalaine," Amelie drew out, stepping her Louis Vuitton luggage on the ground. Not even a second later, it was being picked up by a maid and rushed upstairs. "Please tell me you followed the meal plan I instructed for you,"
The girls eyes widened and takes a small step backward. "I- I did for the most part. I had some food at work the other night-"
"Adalaine," her mother scolds.
"I'm sorry," the youngest Airoldi said quietly, her eyes trained to the marble floor. "It won't happen again,"
"Yes it won't," Amelie agreed harshly. "Now go upstairs. Tomorrow we will go to my trainer at the club and... access the damage,"
Adalaine nodded meekly and turns around, rushing up the stairs. Because in all honesty, she had completely forgotten about her mothers demands, and spent half the week with Kiara- they snacked during their shared lessons, ate extra salty fries on their break at The Wreck, and when they sat together at the academy during lunch. Kiara always brought extra food just in case, and usually Adalaine would politely decline, but that entirely week, she accepted graciously.
Hastily she goes through her drawers, desperate to find the hidden container of pills. Her hands were shaking violently and she couldn't see a damn thing due to the tears piling up in her eyes.
A knock comes to her door and after she takes a shaky exhale of a breath, she wipes the cascading tears and straightens herself up.
"Hey Ads," Rafe says, once the door is opened. "Woah- you good?"
"I'll be fine," she says quietly.
"Well, would a party help?" He asks with a smug smile, "Topper's throwing one and I figured I'd invite you as well,"
"What's the catch?" Adalaine asks.
"I gotta go get more Ya-yo, come with me?"
"That guy is creepy Rafe," she frowns. "I- I don't want to do that again anyway,"
"Aw come on!" Rafe exclaims. "It'll make you feel better,"
She mulls over request for a few minutes before slowly nodding. Surely, it would be a good distraction from her mother. "On one condition," she says, lifting her head up to look him in the eyes, "I need you to get me those pills again,"
