Chapter 29

Kyle’s POV

I drove back home with a huge grin on my face. Today has been one of my best days in months, I was relaxing and I saw my child , can’t believe I’m going to be a father again and honestly that made me happy and what made me happier was the mother of my unborn child. After Rose’s death I didn’t think I could ever move on but I think Jordan is about to change all of that after a very long time I am happy.

I unlocked my door entering my house to find the lights still on in every room so I’m guessing Dan is here 

“Where have you been dude?. I’ve been in the house waiting for you ” Dan  says sitting on the stool in the kitchen this is more like his house more than mine because he is here more than I am

“I was out “I said as I opened the fridge and taking a bottle of water

“Out? With who because Hailey is very far from here” He said leaving what he was doing and focusing on me

“With someone” I said taking a gulp of water 

“Who was she? How is she?” he said looking straight at me, a gleam of excitement apparent in his face

“She’s well and pregnant” I said the last part in whisper, barely audible but I’m sure her heard me so I turned away from him facing the sink

“She is what?” He said rather loudly, thank God Hailey is not home because she would have woken up at Dan’s sudden outrage

“Look man, she’s pregnant and by the way you know her” I said putting my bottle of water on top of the table and sitting across him

“Who is she? Is she the one that came to the hospital? Is it your child?” He said looking at me and I nodded to everything he said

“Dude when I said you should mingle I meant get to know them first not get them pregnant” He said and I just rolled my eyes. when he says mingle he means one night stands with different girls every night  because that’s his lifestyle, Dan and I are exact opposite , I wonder how we became this close

“Anyways it Jordan” I said looking at the bottle in front of me, I don’t want see his expression right now

“ Jordan? Uhmm I don’t think I know her, her name does ring a bell though” He said thinking deeply, lines creasing on his forehead to show that he is thinking deeply  

“Jordan, Jordan Carter man” I said to and realization dawned on him by the way his eyes bulged out of their sockets

“The Jordan Carter? The tom-boyish girl who was your friend in high school, your prom date that went AWOL? S He asked while I was nodding and smiling at him

“Wow now where did you get her?”He said laughing lightly

“We met at the reunion” I said thinking back to the day I saw her on the reunion 

“Wait was she the smoking red head girl you were with? He asked and I did I’ve been doing which was nodding 

“That night I took her home and a month later BAM” I said as I took out the picture of the ultrasound from my pocket and showing it to him. He took it gaping at the picture; I don’t think he believed what I was saying until he saw the photo

“Wow” Was all he could say looking at me and back at the picture as though he was looking for some resemblance 

“I’m gonna be a dad again dude” I said beaming at him and I guess my happiness was infectious because he was beaming just as I was, he may not approve of my lifestyle like I don’t his but he was behind me in  everything I do

“Anyways I’m tired so we’ll talk later” I said as I walked upstairs toward my bedroom with Congratulations being the last word I hear from Dan

The next morning I’m woken up by a bright light shining in my room blinding me instantly when I try opening them, I swore the curtains were closed before I thought as I try adjusting my eyes to the bright light to find a figure standing in front of where I am position, I squint my eye to make out who it is and I find Sarah with a serious expression in her face and her arm crossed over her chest

 “Sarah what the hell, what are you doing here” I asked covering my face with my sheet only for Sarah to pull it off me and to the floor

“Can you please explain what this is?” she says shoving a picture of the ultrasound on my face, at first I was in a daze that I couldn’t remember what happened yesterday but the look in her face made me want to squirm under her gaze, Her expression was serious and firm, Sarah is like a second mother to me sometime so I don’t know how am I suppose to tell her that I had a one night stand with a girl I always liked and now she’s pregnant

“A picture of the ultrasound?” I said afraid to answer her 

“I know what this is. I am asking whose this is “she asks, with a firm and authoritative tone

“It is mine, Can i take a shower and come downstairs to tell you everything” I say as I get out of my bed and into the shower. I’m going to tell her everything, she deserves to know because she is a part of family now and she has to be aware of the changes that happens around this house and there are going to be some big changes around here

After taking a showing and dressed I head down stair to find Sarah in the kitchen with her arms resting on the counter and she’s observing the picture deeply

“Hey” I said sitting across her on the chair, I didn’t know how to start this conversation and I also want to spill everything to her detail by detail

“So you ready to spill it all out?” She said taking a seat too and facing me

“That ultrasound is mine” I said looking on the floor, i dont know im so scared to tell her, I feel like a kid who has to explain why he beat his classmate or stole candy at the local store

“We’ve already established that, and it can’t be Hailey because it’s dated on the 27 which was yesterday” She says looking intently at me 

“Yea, it is not Hailey “I said still now looking at her, I was giving her answers she already knew and i coculd tell that I was testing her patience

“Kyle Matthews spill it out “She said coming closer to me 

“Okay This ultrasound is mine, this here is my child. There was this girl that I liked back in high school so she came back after nine years so we met up and got together and now she’s pregnant with my child “I said avoiding eye contact with her, Sarah scares me when she like this, I know she Is going to tell me that I’m irresponsible or something like that but she does something I didn’t expect in a billion years, she laughs and holds the picture closer t her chest

“Oh My God, we  having a new addition to this house, so tell me more about the mother and when will I meet her, will she come stay with us?” she said rambling all these questions to me her expression beaming with excitement and happiness making me smile too

“What’s all the excitement about?” said Dan coming towards the kitchen and grabbing a cup of coffee

“The new addition to the family, Kyle is gonna be a daddy again “She says to him and he just sits down and begins drinking his coffee

“So anyways tell me about her, and I want to hear everything” She says as though we are teenage girl who has a crush on the popular guy and the guy finally notices her

“Okay so her name is Jordan Sue Carter, we have known each other from kindergarten ……” So I began telling her the tale of me and Jordan detail by detail with Dan even adding to my story and Sarah was intently listening with a smile gleaming on her face and I could tell that she already likes her.
