Akaashi's cousin was over.

The ever so annoying, obnoxious cousin was seated at their dinner table constantly irritating the poor boy who just wanted to eat in peace.

"Nee nee~ Keiji-kyuuun~," she bugs him again while he tries to stomach her 16th question about him. 'You can do this, Keiji, you were teammates with Bokuto-senpai,'

"What?" he tries to respond as nonchalantly as possible.

Keiji wasn't one to lose his cool quickly. But he's only human and one more question might drive him mad. His parents were spectating and he didn't want to be rude.

"Do you have a girlfriend yet?"

That's when Step-mamakashi butts in the conversation. She knew her son didn't like talking about his relationship status.
"Ah, Keiji wants to focus on his studies," she smiles and pats Keiji's back, "He doesn't have one,"

Keiji actually had one. Not a girlfriend though, but the opposite. His senpai was his boyfriend but its has been under wraps for a while.

And he wanted it to stay that way.

The dense cousin frowns, "Ehhh? But Keiji is so good looking," she sighs and lays a head on her hand.

"Love is more to looks," Papakashi cuts off his wife who was about to respond. "I'm pretty sure Keiji would get one when the time comes,"

"I have a lot of friends who are single!"

The cousin throws everything they said out the window which ticks the Akaashi son off. He grits his teeth and clutches his shirt.

His parents couldn't do anything about it, not wanting to be rude to their niece as well.

"Here here! She's also a third year, although from Niichiyama, she doesn't play volleyball though," she points to a picture of a girl on her phone.

Akaashi looks away, "I'm not interested,"

"Oh, what about this girl?" she scrolls through her phone.

Keiji slams his cup down and looks at her, seething with irritation. "I said I'm not intrested I don't even like girls, I'm-"

He catches himself and abruptly stops due to the shocked expression his cousin and parents let out. Keiji's heart starts to beat faster as he hurriedly leaves his seat.

Without a word, he grabs his jersey and immediately bolts out the door.

"Keiji!" his stepmother tries to catch up but his father stops her.

"Let him, we'll pick him up later, he might've been just stressed,"

His cousin speechlessly clasps a hand over her mouth, "Keiji is...gay?"

Papakashi and Mamakashi look at each other, nodding at their niece. "We don't mind, really, we've gotten a feeling he is," his mom states.

"And you're okay with that?" the cousin follows up, horrified.

"Is there a problem with that? Keiji has never let us down in most things," his father starts defending, "It's just about right we don't let him down either,"

But Keiji wasn't there to hear the defense. He was scared, not mad.

He was scared that his parents would disown him and leave him the way his blood mother did. He started running. He didn't know where he was going but he just went where his feet took him.
