The snow steadily falls on Shiratorizawa ground as winter rolls in. Semi and Shirabu were in charge of closing up the gym as the others leave.
"Shirabu, can you help me here a bit?"
"I dunno, can I-" he was about to finish the retort but sees the look on Semi's eyes. He lets out a 'tch' before helping Semi get the net off.
Semi thanks him quietly before folding the net and Shirabu realizes that the snow has grown thick.
Semi then pats Shirabu's back and beckons him out, "Good work today, let's go."
Shirabu nods and trails behind Semi, wearing their long coats.
Semi had to admit, if anything, he didn't like being clumped together with Shirabu. He really didn't know how to sort his feelings properly but there was something inside him that wanted to stay away from his junior.
He should take getting replaced with a bit more kindness but whenever he saw Shirabu it just wouldn't work. He didn't hate the guy he was just confused.
Or moreover, he was just bottling something up.
He sighs and locks the gym, Shirabu standing a bit farther from him while blowing some warm air into his hands.
They could hear the children of their teachers playing around as he turns and suddenly gets hit by a snowball on the face. Shirabu tries his best to not cackle out loud at the sudden impact on his senpai.
Semi bitterly wipes off the snow and glowers at the kid who threw the snowball at him. A small girl was trembling at Semi's expression as he suddenly softens up.
"Onii-san I'm sorry!" she immediately bows and Semi approaches her. Shirabu internally panics, knowing how hot-headed Semi could get, and quickly walks after him.
"O-oi, Semi-san she's just a-"
To Shirabu's surprise, Semi squats to the little girl's position and pats her head gently. "Don't cry, it's alright," he sighs as the little girl stops tearing up. She bows one more time before running away.
Semi sighs and sees his breath vaporize before standing straight again.
Shirabu stands there surprised. Semi cocks up a brow, "What? You really thought I'd hurt her?" he scoffs and turns around immediately, "Is that how lowly you think of me?"
Shirabu huffs and walks ahead, furrowing his brows at his senpai's remark. He sees a few of his classmates that he particularly dislikes passing by, throwing snowballs as well. He gulps and walks a bit closer to Semi.
"It's Bangsie!"
Semi notices the sudden change in distance, suddenly stopping as Shirabu bumps into him. Semi looks in the direction Shirabu was looking at before seeing a snowball fly in their direction.
Aimed at Shirabu.
Semi quickly puts up his arm to block the flying snow and it disperses on his coat, only splattering a few snow particles on Shirabu's face. "You know these people?" he looks back at his junior.
Shirabu nods and glares at them. Ticked off, he grabs a wad of snow and molds it down before chucking it at the person who aimed for him. This sudden movement startles Semi.
"Oi, don't start a fight now-" he scolds before being hit by another boy. He glares and wipes off the snow on his coat.
The situation was bad. When you mix two hot-headed and stubborn setters of a powerhouse team, you're certain to pick a fight when you make stupid decisions.
Semi helps Shirabu chuck snowballs at the boys ahead of them. As petty as it sounds, it made sense for both setters to react in such a manner.
Semi throws a snowball dead set at a boy's forehead as he curses and grabs Shirabu's wrist and dashes out of there and into the club room.
He shuts the door and sighs. "Don't make rash decisions like that,"
"I never asked you to help,"
Semi looks at Shirabu with sharp eyes and slams his locker, "I know that, Shirabu," he sighs and leans his head on his locker door, sighing. He needed to calm down if they both wanted to have a coherent conversation.
"But I didn't want to leave a kouhai behind," he slings his bag onto his shoulders and prepares his umbrella. "Don't forget to zip up and stay warm," he doesn't spare Shirabu a second glance, "I'd be troublesome if our main setter got sick,"
Shirabu's heart drops. He said it in such a way that he didn't even make Shirabu feel spited. He wanted to just keep quiet but the words bounce out from his throat, "Semi-senpai do you hate me?"
Semi freezes on the doorway. He retreats and closes the door, "I don't hate you," he states, "Hate is too much of a strong word,"
He looks at Shirabu who noticeably was ready to leave but had no muffler. He sighs and tucks his hands behind him.
"You're skilled, I could never dislike that about you. You fill up everything that I'm lacking at," he looks down, "I shouldn't be able to hate you,"
Shirabu gulps down. He was never this emotional with someone, moreover a senpai.
"There's some part of me that wants to get closer to you rather than having such a large rift in our relationship," Semi takes the courage to actually tell the younger setter his feelings, "I'd graduate soon and I don't want my last memories with you bad ones,"
Shirabu places a hand on his chest, "Where is this suddenly coming from?"
"The reason why I blocked that first snowball," Semi removes his muffler, "It was a sudden thought of 'I want to care for him'," he sighs and wraps his muffler around Shirabu's neck.
"I wanna do as much as to be closer to you," he smiles at him, "Because I think you're a really cool person,"
He turns around and leaves the blushing Shirabu, closing the door behind him. He stands there for a while, regaining his composure before walking away.
He hears the door behind him slammed open with a blushing Shirabu emerging, "Semi-san!"
He turns and looks at him with a surprised expression.
"I-" he looks down, "Wanna walk to the station together?" he suddenly offers.
Shirabu clasps the muffler on his neck and bravely lifting his head to meet Semi's eyes. "Let me at least do this much,"

I made their dynamics here a bit closer to canon and a bit merged with fanon.I didn't want to disappoint but I also wanted to see how realistically I could write Semi and Shirabu's emotional development in fanfiction standards.
Both of them are tsundere characters so it's kinda hard to decide on who is the softer tsundere.
ANYWAYS!! Wheel of the prophecy states that a YAKULEV IS NEXT LMAOOOOO
I hope you enjoyed and don't forget that I'm running a poll on Instagram for the next multi-ship story~
