Resignation

I got up and showered. I put on my work clothes and did my makeup then brushed my hair. Antonio came in.

Antonio: Morning baby.
Kendra: Morning.

I kissed him. I went out and packed my bag. Antonio came out. I zipped my bag and went into the kitchen. I made breakfast. He came out and we ate.

Antonio: You said something about a candidate?

My phone went off. It was a call from Chief Boden.

Kendra: One second.

I answered it.

Boden: Morning Kendra.
Kendra: Chief.
Boden: Sorry to be bothering you at this time but your candidate has resigned from Squad.
Kendra: Alright.
Boden: Mills went and saw a doctor about his eye problem.
Kendra: Problem?
Boden: Mills can no longer be on squad, therefore he is now PIC. As Gabby is a candidate on 81.
Kendra: That means I'm down a man.
Boden: Your down two.
Kendra: What?
Boden: Severide has resigned from his duties at 51. You are now lieutenant of squad three.
Kendra: He quit?
Boden: His grieve of the loss. Coming back to work would be to much for him.
Kendra: I'm down a man. What are we going to do.
Boden: I have a new member lined up. Newhouse.
Kendra: What?
Boden: you'll meet him when you get here. Thank you for your time lieutenant.
Kendra: Yeah.

He hung up. I went back and sat down.

Antonio: Everything ok?
Kendra: Candidate resigned Mills isn't clear for squad and Severide quit.
Antonio: Woah.
Kendra: Right.

We ate. I went and grabbed my bag.

Kendra: I gotta go

He came over clipping his badge to his belt.

Antonio: Love you.

He kissed me. I walked out. I went and got in my car and drove to work. I put my stuff away.

Casey: Hey Boden wants to see us.

I followed him to Bodens office. We walked in and I saw a guy I didn't know.

Boden: Rick. Meet Lieutenant Casey and Lieutenant Parker.

We shook his hand.

Boden: I'm sure 51 will give you a warm welcome.
Rick: Sounds good.
Boden: Parker. Show him his locker. Then report back.
Kendra: You got it Chief.

We walked out. I took him to his locker.

Rick: It's a pleasure to be working for you lieutenant.
Kendra: I'm looking forward to it.

I smiled and went back to Bodens office. I sat down.

Boden: Make today a good shift. The last few have been rough.
Casey: You got it Chief.
Boden: Dissmissed.

We got up. I got coffee and went to the garage.

Capp: We heard about Severide.
Tony: And now Mills too?
Capp: We don't have enough guys.

Newhouse walked out.

Newhouse: Am I in the right spot?
Kendra: Yeah yeah sit down. Guys meet Rick Newhouse. He's on squad with us now.
Capp: I'm Capp.
Tony: I'm Tony.
