Bad monkey

Four years later.
Our baby girl, Eva is 3, and Diego, our son, is 9 months old. When I was pregnant with them I rode along on calls until I was five months in then spent 4 in arson. Now I'm back full duty. Antonio and I decided to not have anymore kids.

I sat up. I went and showered then put on my work clothes. Then I pulled my hair back and did my makeup. Antonio walked in in his boxers. I leaned over the counter.

Antonio: Ooh what's the occasion?
Kendra: You looking like that that's what it is.
Antonio: Ah.

He stood behind me. He pulled my pants down.

Antonio: Opps?

I laughed. Things progressed. He got into the shower and I fixed up.

Kendra: Damn Daddy

I walked out. I went and went into Diego's room.

Kendra: Good morning handsome.

I played with his hair. He smiled. I got him clothes from the closet. I put him on the changing table and he started crying.

Kendra: Oh baby I know it's rough here want this?

I gave him his nuk. He accepted it. I changed his diaper and then put fresh clothes on him. Then we went to Eva's room.

Eva: hi.
Kendra: How did you sleep?

I got her clothes.

Kendra: Did you dream about anything?

I put Diego on the floor and started to help her get dressed.

Kendra: Monkey took brother?
Eva: Daddy fight bad monkey.
Antonio: Daddy fought a monkey!
Eva: Bad monkey no good
Antonio: Oh ok. Did daddy win?
Eva: No. Monkey give up
Antonio: So Daddy won.
Eva: Ok Daddy

He kissed her forehead. She got up.

Eva: Mommy go to work?
Kendra: Yeah. Mommy has to work.
Eva: Why mommy work?
Kendra: Mommy likes her work.
Eva: Oh. I have cereal?
Kendra: Sure.
Antonio: Come on baby girl.

Antonio took her hand and they went downstairs. I went and got Diego's bag together. I grabbed his blanket then went and got Eva her fresh clothes. I took them downstairs.

Antonio: I'll take these.

I nodded. I got Diego a bottle. I took him to his mat and laid him down. I gave him his bottle.

Eva: Mommy no work
Kendra: Why?
Eva: Baby cry to much Cinney try not make baby cry. Cinney say baby nap
Kendra: brother was tired?
Eva: Yeah.

She finished her cereal.

Antonio: Alright. Let's go to Cindy's.
Eva: Not Go

She sat on the floor.

Antonio: Why?
Eva: No go to Cinneys. Want to go with mommy to work.
Antonio: You can't honey.

She started crying. I went over. I picked her up and took her out to the truck. I put her in her seat.

Kendra: Call mommy ok?
Eva: Mommy! No!
Kendra: I love you.
Eva: Love you to mommy.

I shut the door.

Antonio: Have a good day.

I kissed him goodbye. They left. I went inside and got my stuff together. Then I locked the house and went to work. I walked in and out my stuff in my locker. I went to morning meeting. After we had breakfast. When I was done I went and sat out on the floor. The morning was quiet. My phone was ringing. It was Antonio. I answered

Antonio: Baby
Kendra: Hey.
Antonio: We caught a case the districts under attack we talked to Boden. Bodens letting us come to work at the station. Babe I pissed someone off. They're out for me. I'm bringing Eva and Diego. They're out for us babe.
Kendra: Alright. Be careful.
Antonio: Yeah. We are. I gotta go. Love you.
Kendra: Love you to.

He hung up.

Boden: Hey Everyone.

We all gathered in the kitchen.

Boden: I have received news that the 21 district is under attack and on mandatory lock down. They are looking for one person. Antonio. It's not safe for them there so they're coming here. We will have two littles running around and the house is out of service.
Gabby: I call dibs on Diego
Cruz: Hey no I'm his favorite.
Matt: No one calls dibs. I get him first!

We all went our separate ways. Then they showed up. They came in. Eva came over.

Eva: Mommy.

She hugged me.

Kendra: Hey Baby

Eva: Bad monkey was at Cinneys
Kendra: Oh?
Eva: Bad monkey say mean word.

Then I heard crying. I looked up.

Antonio: We can't get him to stop crying.

Antonio handed me Diego.

Eva: Bad monkey scare brother
Cindy: Bad monkey?
Eva: Bad Monkey at Cinneys
Hermann: Cindy! Eva!
Gabby: Did I hear Eva!?
Eva: Mommy!
Kendra: I'm listening.
Eva: Bad monkey at Cinneys Bad monkey say mean word.

I looked at Antonio.

Cindy: A guy stopped by the house earlier. He was asking for Antonio and then he said that he was going to hurt Antonio so I slammed the door in his face and locked it. I immediately called Antonio.
Eva: Bad monkey mommy! Bad monkey hurt Daddy.
Kendra: Bad monkey was at Cinneys.
Eva: Yeah
Kendra: Bad monkey said mean words.
Eva: Bad monkey said he kill daddy

Antonio showed her a picture.

Eva: Yeah. That is bad monkey.

I looked at him.

Eva: Bad monkey in house night. Bad monkey say shhh then I scream at Bad monkey
Kendra: She did scream last night. I ran to her room she was sitting straight up in bed. Her window was open.
Antonio: Why didn't you come get me?
Kendra: You were sleeping. That scream scared the crap out of me and you didn't even wake up.
Eva: Dat is bad monkey mommy know Bad monkey
Kendra: Ok hun. Go play with Auntie Gabby.
Eva: Ok.

Gabby took her inside. I held onto Diego.

Kendra: What shes saying is true.
Erin: It sounds like it.
Antonio: I can't believe this.
Hank: Were going to find this guy. Antonio. Your going to stay here with your family.
Antonio: Alright.

They walked out.

Antonio: Aw He's asleep. Your the best mom a kid could ask for.
Kendra: Thank you.
Antonio: I'm sorry baby.
Kendra: As long as we are safe.
Antonio: We are.

We sat there the rest of the night. They caught the guy and Antonio left and took the kids home.
