Next shift.

I woke up and got ready for work. I showered and put on my work clothes then did my mascara. I went downstairs and made breakfast. When I was done I went up and got my bag. The kids came down and ate.

Antonio: first day of day care!

Eva smiled.

Antonio: bye baby love you
Kendra: love you.

I kissed him and grabbed my bag. I went out and got into my truck and went to work. I put my stuff away and then went and had breakfast. We went for role.

Severide: squad let's go for a field trip.

We went out and put on our pants and got in. We went to some random house. He went inside.

Capp: What is that place.

I shrugged. He came back. We went and gassed up then we started back to the firehouse. We got a call. We responded.

Boden: Squad Primary, get in there now
Severide: Capp with me Kendra and Cruz go second
Cruz: got it Lieutenant.

We suited up. Cruz followed me. We went up the stairs.

Cruz: we're all clear.
Kendra: alright let's get out of here.

Then the roof collapsed.

Severides pov

Boden: where's Kendra and Cruz?!
Seceride: still inside.

The roof went in.

Boden: Kendra Cruz report. Report.

Nothing.

Boden: go get them.

We went in.

Cruz: I can't get to her. It's in the way.
Severide: it's all blocked off Chief.

Bodens pov.

The team walked over.

Severide: we can't reach Kendra she's down I can hear it.
Boden: alright.
Hank: Kendra's Down?
Boden: guys can't reach her.

Kendras pov

I gasped for air. I stopped my beeper.

Boden: get out of there.
Kendra: I'm caught Chief my foot
Boden: We're sending a arial now.

I got it.

Kendra: Im not stuck. It's getting hot in here Chief I have to bail.
Chief: we're working on that arial
Kendra: I'm gonna jump.
Chief: what?
Kendra: to the pool.

Without listening I broke the window, got a running start and threw myself out the window, into the pool. I came up and took off my mask. I looked as the entire house bursted into flames.

Boden: you ok?
Kendra: yeah.

I got out. I grabbed my helmet.

Gabby: hey nice leap.
Severide: nice call

I nodded. I put my stuff down in front of the squad. I took off my coat and my gear pants and stood there.

Casey: we wouldn't have made it.
Kendra: I got kids. I do what I have to do to survive.
Casey: I get it.

I nodded. I saw Antonio.

Antonio: I can't have my wife in harms way constantly.
Kendra: and your not?
Antonio: woah I was kidding.
Kendra: didn't sound like it.
Antonio: well I was. What's the attitude for.

I took a deep breath. I looked at him.

Kendra: I don't know, something's off, I've had this pain in my stomach like all day.

He wrapped his arms around me.

Antonio: go home.
Kendra: I can't.
Antonio: you can,
Kendra: no.
Antonio: you need to be careful.

I nodded. Intense pain shot through my stomach. I gasped.

Antonio: what.

I grabbed his shirt I had it crumpled into my hand.

Antonio: Gabby

She came over.

Gabby: what what's wrong
Antonio: she said she had pain in her stomach.

Antonio was basically holding me up.

Gabby: let her down.

He let me sit on the ground

Gabby: where

I pointed to it.

Gabby: Appendix. Let's get you to the hospital.

Antonio picked me up and got me into the ambulance and they took me to the hospital.

Gabby: 30 year old female possible bursted appendix

The doctor did an ultrasound.

Dr: get her upstairs we'll take care of it right now.

They took me up and prepped me for surgery and put me to sleep.

When I woke up I had Antonio next to me.

Antonio: hey baby
Kendra: hey
Antonio: you scared me

I laughed.

We stayed in the hospital for three days, then I was discharged and on the couch for two weeks.
