   "Taehyung Kim, welcome to Merman Training 101!" you exclaimed excitedly while doing a little spin in the water. Kai copied you with a tiny giggle.

   "It's Kim Taehyung—"

   "It's literally the same thing. Anyway, while you're in my academy, you shall call me Professor Huening—"

   "And call me Mr. Kai!" Kai exclaimed.

   "What are we, roleplaying or some shit—?"

   "STOP FUCKING CUTTING ME OFF—!"

   "Also, I'm older than both of you—"

   "HOLY FUCK SHUT UP!" you screamed while thrashing your arms wildly in the water. Kai snickered quite loudly, and Taehyung put his hands up in surrender. "Let's just start," you sighed while swimming into the middle of the pool.

   "Alright then, today, our first lesson will be treading water. Kai and I will help you swim out to where I am right now, and you'll have to keep your head above the water. In order to achieve that, you'll need to move your arms around in the water and kind of like move the fin of your tail to create a current of water that'll keep you afloat," you explained.

   "Also, don't panic if you start to sink, because otherwise you'll sink faster," Kai added. You nodded in agreement and moved slightly closer to your mate.

   "Taehyung, are you ready?" You asked with a raised brow. Said newborn merman gulped and hesitantly took your outstretched hand. "Kai, come help me drag him out," you commanded.

   Carefully, you and your brother led Taehyung out into the middle of the pool. You noticed that Taehyung was lightly trembling, and you hesitatingly placed your hand on his bare shoulder. "Hey, Tae, relax," you said.

   "That rhymed," Kai giggled.

   "You'll be just fine; you're physically unable to drown. As long as you don't panic, then you won't sink," you reassured. Taehyung gave you a small smile.

   "For your first attempt at treading water, Kai and I will hold on to you to keep you from capsizing, okay?" Taehyung agreed and hesitatingly released you and your brother and began moving his arms around.

   "Okay, good, Hyung. Now, I'm going to need you to begin moving your tail," Kai ordered.

   "B-But how?" Taehyung questioned.

   "Just move your tail back and forth, Tae. Back and forth," you taught. Taehyung followed your directions correctly and you shared a look with Kai.

   "Alright, Taehyung, Kai and I are going to let go of you now, okay?" you finally said.

   "But—but—"

   "Babe, you're going to be just fine, okay? And remember, me and Kai are going to remain right here." The pet name flew out of your mouth without you realizing it. Kai stared at you in disbelief and Taehyung turned beetroot red.

   "O-Okay."

   "Good. We're going to let go in three . . ."

   Kai looked up at Taehyung and smirked. It didn't comfort Taehyung like Kai probably thought it would.

   "Two . . ."

   Taehyung rubbed his hands together anxiously.

   "And one." You and Kai released Taehyung in unison and the said newborn got straight to work. He moved his arms around gracefully and moved his tail back and forth. You and your brother smiled proudly as Taehyung started to cheer in victory.

   "Y/N, I'm doing it! I'm doing it!" Taehyung exclaimed with a wide smile on his face.

   "And Kai," said merman whined childishly. You snickered.

   "I'm proud of you, Tae," you said with a sweet smile. Taehyung beamed and smiled shyly.

   "Y/N, I'm tired now from everything that's been going on," Taehyung said while yawning. You secretly cooed but nodded and grabbed a hold of Taehyung, gesturing for Kai to do the same.

   Once you three were back, you automatically swam straight to the shallow part where you slept without even bothering to brush your teeth and laid down. You bid both boys a good night and slowly drifted off to sleep.
