Chapter Ninety Four

Whatever conflict Sonny had been stuck in the middle of, suddenly his future was clear, suddenly everything made sense. THIS was what he was born to do; Martha had her arms wrapped around him, hands dragging through his hair as she devoured his mouth with enthusiasm. Her lips were exotic yet familiar, and literally ravished him. And for a moment he was a welcome prisoner, just absorbing the sensations of her mouth her inquisitive tongue, the pressure of her fingers pulling him close, a stark contrast to the blows she’d delivered to any part of him she could reach. His heart was pounding, and if she wasn’t drawing his every breath deep into her own lungs, then he’d be breathless anyway.

Sonny was tempted to stamp his feet because he felt as though he was floating, actually leaving the ground. It was ethereal, beautiful...and then she pressed her body into his, and he could feel those firm breasts against his chest, her smooth legs buried their way between his. She was a demon, a vixen, and he was bewitched all over again.

Then suddenly, he felt two hands push into his chest, and caught off balance he staggered backwards.

Martha looked at him, his pupils dilated, brow damp with perspiration and rapid breaths being dragged between his parted lips.

“NOW are you confused? Or have you suddenly worked out what you want?” As he tried to focus on her actions, her words...still not in control of his faculties, she grinned, in a ‘cat that got the cream’ kind of way and it did wonderful things to him.

But when he reached for her, she stepped back, “you think it’s that easy?” Despite being in control, her own heart was racing, her own breathing was ragged. But she had to do this, there was no way she was giving in to all this without him realising just what he was getting...or almost losing.

He stared at her wide eyed, and she loved it. When he lifted an eyebrow in question, she shook her head, “no way are you bowling me over until we’ve talked. I am starving.” She wasn’t, but he didn’t need to know that. “And you’re buying me dinner.”

He’d recovered a little composure now, and with a half smile he asked, “oh I am?”

Storming across the room, away from his claws, and that hungry passion in his eyes, she rifled through the wardrobe, pulling out a sundress, which she slid on over her bikini when she’d removing the vest she’d just put on. Then she kicked off her shorts from underneath it and made for the door.

Turning she saw him leaning against the wall watching her with hooded eyes, humour on his face, “I like the sassy Martha.” As she digested his words, he crossed the room and marched past her into the corridor, leaving her to stroll after him.

Sonny was waiting at the lift when she caught up with him, and he smiled, “dinner you say?”

She nodded, “somewhere special.”

All the way back along the front he didn’t touch her, other than the odd guiding hand on the small of her back when they encountered crowds. He led her past the bar she’d found him in earlier, and further along the boardwalk to a tall modern building.

“The best restaurant in town...I’m assured.”

Martha nodded, not wanting to say anything else until they were shown to a table overlooking the sea and left to peruse the menu.

“I want to hear everything that happened.”

He looked up at her, “you mean how I found out?”
