KP's POV
"Kamilah!" I heard my dad booming in the distance. "Coming, Dad!" I screeched, throwing my backpack over my shoulder and running downstairs. Excited to start my year as a junior student. I bumped into dad who strategically caught me before I could fall. "I tell you everyday, since the past year; to change your sleeping patterns. If I wasn't here...You'd be late for school every single day."
I stood up straight and fixed my uniform, "But daddy, I would miss out on having you call out my name each morning. I like it." I gave him puppy dog eyes. He chuckled and ruffled my hair humming.
"Seems like my little princess is doing it purposefully."
I jumped up in glee, "Ding! Ding! Ding!" We both laughed it off and sat on the huge island table for breakfast in silence.
It has been this way for years. Same routine. I was a daddy's girl and I damn well enjoyed it. Daddy spoiled me rotten and yet raised me well. I'm not just saying, it's true. After breakfast, we got into his car and he drove me to school.
"Daddy, you know I can walk by myself to school, it's not that far..." he cut me off, "Nonsense! There will be none of that. You're my princess, daddy's little girl and thus will be treated as such." He took a side glance at me and my heart swelled. I held his hand, "I love you, Daddy." He took my hand and kissed it. "I love you my little princess." He pulled over at the entrance of the school yard. I got out and waved goodbye as he drove off.I turned around to walk into the school premises, when suddenly, I bumped heads with someone. Ouch! "Well, I should get you a pair of glasses." His voice was music to my ears.
"You're out here because?""I always do, for my girl. We could walk together to school but, your dad..."
I chuckled, "Believe me, I try. He won't budge."
Angelo's eyes twinkled as he stared at me whilst I was talking. He took my backpack and carried it himself along with his. We walked hand in hand to class. Upon our arrival, we sat at our table and took out our phones while waiting for the teacher. I sat back and rested my head on his chest, pulling my phone towards us.
Without hesitation I went straight to Instagram. Browsing through Uncanny Valley's page. God this woman was the It thing. She inspired me. Power emanated from her. In every single detail. I felt Angelo's head rest beside mine. "You adore this lady, yes?"
"Gelo, I can't help myself. It feels like it's destiny calling me to her." Angelo lightly chuckled and kissed my temple in a brisk manner. "Kami, you're trying to say or actually you are saying that destiny is calling you to Uncanny's page..." silence enveloped us. I blinked. Once. Twice. "You're going crazy babe." He continued laughing. The corner of his eyes creasing as he did so. It annoyed me. I was his girlfriend. He should support me, even when whatever I was doing was crazy. He should be crazy too. We're a team.
After some time, his laughter died down. And my face? Had a permanent scowl. Angelo finally noticed, he held my face in his hands and grinned. "You're so pretty when you mad." My cheeks lightened. "Are you still mad or you like what I said?"
"Both..." He pecked my lips. "That's my girl. I-"
"Settle down everyone. Class has commenced," interrupted the teacher.
From there onwards, we attended our classes and went to recess twice. An everyday routine. During the extended study session I was usually with Angelo. We sat together and tried to be as quiet as we could be. At times he helped me study and other times it was the other way around. "Princess," he quietly said. I hummed in response, turning to face his direction. "Mr Guinevere gave us an assignment, we should start with it soon."
"Oh yes, it slipped my mind. What is it about again?"
"Two lovers in fair Verona."
I blinked. He grinned at my confusion.
"It's about Shakespeare and his work. For someone who loves English class, you're pretty slow today. Talk to me princess, what's bothering you?"
I wanted to tell him, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I kissed his cheek and told him that it was nothing to worry about. "We can start tomorrow. Meet me at the library at noon." Angelo nodded, not buying it, but simply respecting my privacy. An hour later, the study session was over and we walked out of the school premises together. Daddy was nowhere insight, so I decided to walk home with Angelo.
I honestly wished I could tell him what the hell bothered me.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure he would understand. Angelo was my boyfriend. We have been going out for a while, and he made me want to be the best version of myself.
Yeah, right. Just what exactly? What must be said? The fact that you're lonely?
If I was in a video game, I would have lost countless lives due to Paisley. Unlike my everyday self, Paisley was the annoying, arrogant and negative side of me. Of which, only I, knew that. She was never nice to me. Paisley's sarcasm and comebacks could turn any sane person into a beast. Myself included. I hated how she only showed up when I needed encouragement the most.
"Why are you making that face?"
The gentle squeezing on my hand brought me out of my chain of thoughts. He probably noticed my pinched expression.
"Nothing to worry about." I waved it off. Angelo shrugged as we continued walking.
