"No, she's not going anywhere. Perhaps, you should." My aunt said, with her hands on her hips. She challenged Uncanny. My mother gritted her teeth ferociously.

"VERONICA MAEVE! If anything happens to her, you'll be damned!" She spat.

"What could go wrong?" My aunt whispered. Silence. We gazed at one another. Uncanny held herself back.

"Wait-you said my aunt dodged a bullet because of you, what did you mean by that?"

Uncanny glared at me. Her face paled. She looked as if she was about to pass out. Unfortunately, she actually did. "Oh, no! Call an ambulance!" Amandla shouted.

"That's your job though..." she face palmed herself before doing as such. Before we even knew it. She was rushed to the E.R. I hope nothing is wrong with her. Don't get me wrong she still is my mom. A few minutes after we arrived, the doctor came out.

"Miss Valley is just fine. We ran some tests and everything seems to be okay, although we'll have to keep her under observation for now. She requested to not see anyone..." the doctor was a little bit fazed by the latter.

Two days later...

Kamilah got home from school and decided to head to the hospital. To her dismay, Uncanny had already been discharged. "Great. She didn't tell anyone." Kamilah sarcastically thought out loud. Come to think of it...she didn't know where Uncanny lived or worked. All she could do was head back to her own house.

Meanwhile, Uncanny had just arrived at hers. "Where the hell were you?" A stoic voice came from the lounge as she entered the house.

"Hospital."

"For two days?"

"Y-yes..." she responded.

"I don't think so." He gulped down his drink. Stood up and stalked towards her. She was backed up against the wall.

"J-Javan..."

"I don't like it when you lie to my face."

"I didn't!" Javan tsked her, wiggling his index finger.

"I missed you..." Javan embraced her. Uncanny went numb. Dumbfounded. Mouth agape. He pulled away and gave her a dashing smile that, once upon a time, used to give her butterflies. She was short of words. "I love you, Uncanny. Don't ever leave me!" He began to sob. All she could do was rub his back soothingly, yet disgusted. This man had ruined her life in the name of love.

Before she even knew it, he was preparing dinner for them. "You never told me, why were you in the hospital?" He asked, dishing up.

"Uhm, it was nothing serious, I just fainted."

"But, you were there for two days? How could it not be serious? Why didn't you call me?" His eyes narrowed, "Whom were you with?"

"Friends." Uncanny chirped.

"Which? Last I checked, Marley is your only friend..."

"Uhh, you know what? I'm tired and I want to rest before preparing for work." She replied heading upstairs.

"You're on leave." Javan calmly said, folding his arms.

"No, I'm not." She recalled, shaking her head with a light chuckle.

"Oh, yes you are. I took it for you." His left eyebrow rose, mocking her.

"You had no right to do that! Who told you to even set foot at my workplace?"

Uncanny seemed to have forgotten her place, Javan's smug smile surfaced. Stalking towards her like a predator. He curled a strand of her hair on his finger, as if fixing it. "Shouting doesn't suit you and I'm sure you know your place. Don't test me." Was all he said before stomping upstairs. Uncanny heaved a sigh. Leaning against the wall on the staircase. At that moment, her phone rang.

"Hello?" There was silence over the other line. One. Two. Three minutes passed. "If you have nothing to say, please don't contact me again. Thank yo-"

"-Wait!" A strained replied interrupted her.

"What do you want?" She questioned, least pleased.

"Don't hang up, just hear me out."

"You better have a good explanation..."

"Of course. Can we meet up tomorrow? I'll text you the details." The person on the other line requested. Uncanny sighed heavily before agreeing to the meeting. Defeated. She went to the guest bedroom and took a shower. Unbeknownst that Javan had been creeping around. Her phone vibrated on the bed and he took a look.

Unknown number: let's meet at Rochette's at 5pm.

The text sparked up his interest. He deleted the message. Pleased that for once she had obeyed his order to not set a password or pin on her phone. He crept out of the room, pleased with himself. Uncanny finally finished and checked her phone and didn't see any new messages. She was confused but rather decided maybe it'll come through in the morning.

Instead of going to bed, her thoughts drifted to Kamilah. Why is my life just a mess? How did I end up here? She rubbed her temple. Veronica just made things a whole lot worse, if Javan finds out...it'll be the death of me. I wish I could tell you what's in my heart. To apologize for all I've done to you. Yet, because of me, you're alive today. I took a bullet for you to live. Tears began streaming down her face. Her heart aching. Moments later, her phone rang. "Mom?" She was in a hushed tone, fearing to awaken Javan.

"Sweetheart, how have you been?"

"I'm a born survivor mom, I'll be alright. I wanna sleep, talk to you tomorrow. I love you..." as soon as she hung up, Javan was closing her door. Fury evident in his eyes.

"Whom was that?" He asked.

"My mom."

His nose flared. "Wtf! You're still in contact?" He raged, pulling on her hair so she got up.

"Aww that hurts! Javan let go!" She screamed.

"I am going to teach you a bloody lesson. You always undermine my manhood. I've had enough of that!" He ripped her pajamas off her, still pulling on her hair. She tried fighting back, only to be slapped hard on her cheeks. He pulled down his pants. "I'm gonna give you what you love. It has been long time since you made me feel good..."

Uncanny's teary eyes went wide. Fearing the worst. He has never been a loving, caring or gentle lover. Or least he has, once. "Javan please! Don't!" She begged. "Don't do this to me," she whispered feeling her soul leaving her body.

A cynical smile appeared on his face as he watched her become weak and defenseless. Dragging her onto the bed. Uncanny's eyes went void. Tears streaming down as they pleased. As she watched and felt this man ruin her once more, like he usually did. He choked her, bringing her mind back to reality. "Say my name!" He said, forcing himself into her. Silence only made him worse.

"Javan!" She whispered-yell.
"Good." He replied getting off her, leaving her destroyed. The moment she heard the door close she broke down. Just how much more of this can I take? Her heart bled. With no one to hear her sorrow.
