"That is not what I meant."
"It is what you're implying. You cannot be seriously putting your trust in her, May?" My aunt asked, baffled.
"Her name is Tremayne." Mom spat.
My aunt blew a fuse. Her face turned red, Uncanny gritting her teeth. "You're the damn reason me and May aren't friends anymore. Why are you still alive? You ruin everything, always!"
Mom rolled her eyes, folding her arms and legs, "Puh-lease. You're not as fly as you think you are, Onica."
"Girls!" Mrs. Duke banged her table. "Uncanny, why must you always be petty? Geez, you're so annoying." She rubbed her temple. She stared at my aunt. "I'm so sorry, Veronica, for everything." She apologized.
My aunt took her purse and stood up, "You're not the one who should be apologizing, May," she walked over to me and kissed my forehead, "I'll see you after school. Enjoy your first day." That was all she said before she walked out of the office. We sat in awkward and pregnant silence till I cleared my throat.
"My schedule, headmistress." She recollected herself and found my folder, handing it to me.
"Take this, and please wait for me at the lounge next door." I nodded and obliged. Leaving the office and waited for her. The place kept on impressing me. I felt like I was in a hotel's lounging area, With refreshments on the table. Maybe I'll like it here.

Meanwhile, in Duke's office, She glared at Uncanny. "You can be a real pain in the ass, Uncanny."
"Yeah, and you tone down on the cockiness. Once a B****, always a b-"
"Shut up!" Tremayne walked over to her friend and sat on the table in front of her, folding her legs. She calmed herself down. "You're not fit for guardianship. I don't know why I allowed you to talk me into it." She sighed.
"Uhm, because I'm your bestie." Uncanny chirped.
Tremayne's face had a permanent scowl plastered on it. She was least impressed. She rubbed her temple. "No, I was Veronica's best friend before you came in, and we became a trio. But that's not important this is about the welfare of your daughter. How the heck did you even become a mother?" She pulled on her hair in frustration.
"May,"
"No. Listen to me and listen real good. I am the headmistress; I have every authority to make drastic decisions. I shouldn't have allowed you to do what you did, I thought you'd changed..." Silence befell them for a split second Uncanny looked ashamed.
Unfortunately, the feeling left the same way it came. "She ruined my life!" Uncanny exploded. Tremayne's eyebrows furrowed before they rose questioningly. She folded her arms and gave Uncanny a disapproving look.
"Why do you want her custody if she ruined your life? Why are you acting like you care when she irritates your very being?" Uncanny gave Tremayne a death glare before she angrily charged towards the door.
"I thought you would get it. But you never will." She held the doorknob,
"What am I supposed to understand when you shut us out? At least Marley should." Uncanny stopped dead on her track.
"None of you understand..." She croaked before storming out.
"Uncanny!" Tremayne tried stopping her, but she was already in the lounge facing Kamilah. She froze on the spot before choking on a sob and running off. Kamilah stood up from her lounge chair, puzzled. Momentarily Tremayne walked out of her office.
"What happened?" Kamilah asked. Tremayne let out a heavy sigh.
"It's too complicated. Anyways, let me give you a tour of the school. You'll also have today off, so you're not pressured or overwhelmed. Try to loosen up." Kamilah nodded. "Okay, how about we start in the dormitories? Each dorm room has two beds. Two separate study nooks. Separate wardrobes. And anything else you may need. Requests are allowed, some are granted; if I see befitting. Only freshmen share, but to those who wish to. Single dorm rooms are adjacent to this building outside. There's a cafeteria and showers. All necessities are provided and well taken care of. I can assign you to a dorm room if you'd like."
"Uhm, no thank you. I think I'll be fine back home."
"Really? With all the traveling? Oh, well no pressure. Let's move on shall we?" Tremayne showed her around the school and Kamilah got to familiarize herself with it. She saw the sports grounds. It had all sorts of sports fields, from football to rugby, and any sport that any student could want to play was provided. Imagine just how many acres of land the whole compound covered. The school had a total of 5 buildings conjoined, excluding the main building, some being two stories from the ground. Ballrooms, labs, clinics, and a shopping center were all there. Although, the shopping center was built further away from the main buildings. She was taken aback when she saw a park. Xavier Prep was a small town on its own made just for students.
After the tour, Tremayne took her to the building where classes commenced. "You're enrolled to complete your 11th grade yes?" Tremayne asked.
"Yes, Mistress."
Tremayne smiled, pleased at how she was catching up so fast. "Let me take you to your first class, even though you missed a couple, it is alright." They walked into a hallway with doors from the left and right sides. They walked into a class labelled 'Jr.A' at the top of the door. As soon as the headmistress walked in, students rose from their respective desks to greet her.
"Afternoon, Headmistress." They all said in unison before she nodded and they all sat back down.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new student joining us. Her name is Kamilah Paisley-"
"-Maeve." Kamilah interrupted her. The entire class gasped. Shocked that she interrupted the headmistress.
"Right, please treat her fairly. As you were." She left and Kamilah found herself a desk at the back. After class, she went into the restroom.
Freshening up, there was a mirror in front of the neatly aligned basins. "You're brave."
She looked up from the mirror, without turning around, "Lucinda!?" She spun around in rage.
The girl chuckled, "Ah, guess you've met my twin sister. My name is Lucrecia Donna."
