Javan's POV
After the call I had with Uncanny, my sister, Mira, walked into my office. I hadn't seen her since that bloody Michael had us arrested. Layla had to pull a few strings to get us out. He frustrated me in so many ways. One of which was because he was with the woman I loved. I should have killed him when I had the chance.
Staring at the pictures I had of Uncanny on the wall, Mira asked, "Uhh, bro, why are you still obsessed with that skinny bish?" The worse part was that they were in my workplace office. I internally groaned. "Don't tell me Tremayne hasn't seen this?"
I sat back on my chair, "Sis, I am a man of many talents. Besides, where is Lucinda, or is it Lucrecia? I still do not understand why she is hell-bent on having multiple personalities when she can't get her shit together."
"I'm not here to discuss that tramp, Jay," she huffed and sat on the chair in front of my table.
I folded my arms with one eyebrow raised, "Then how can I help you, dear sister?"
"Uncanny skipped the country with my man,"
"Yes, I know. Tell me something I don't."
"A little birdie told me that Michael wants to marry Unca-"
"WHAT!?" I banged the table as I stood up, shocked. I raked my dark hair back roughly. No. No. No. No. "This cannot be happening!"
Mira gave me a weird look, "Chill ou-"
"Hell no! Uncanny should know better and not marry him if she knows what's good for her." I began pacing about the office. I had to do something and soon. There was something about the reality of Uncanny marrying Michael. It hurt me. For the first time, I felt like I would lose her.
"You're my brother, but you're starting to creep me out. Leave her alone," she posed.
I grunted, "Oh really? You seem confused about what you want, Mira. Do you still want Michael or Daniel?"
She sighed, "Daniel is my husband, but Michael is the first man I ever loved."
"Hold on; you haven't divorced?"
"Jay, he touches me in ways I wish Michael would..."
I glared at her; for the first time, I saw just how messed up she was. It was sickening. "What about your daughter, who is carrying his baby?"
"Oh, about that, it was a lie," she said calmly. "I told her to pull up that stunt to test Daniel's loyalty. I was pissed that he slept with her, but the baby is this other kid's; I think his name is Warren; if not Walter. He still comes back home to me. I wonder when Lucie will wake up and smell the coffee. Daniel is just using her." Mira rolled her eyes like none of what she had said meant a thing. I sat back down, chuckling. That's my family. My siblings and I; were all messed up fuckers, yet I loved them regardless. Layla was the innocent one of us three. When she fell for Daniel, she joined us. I didn't want to burst Mira's bubble, but I was pretty sure Layla and Daniel still screwed around behind her back. I'll let her figure that one herself.
"Uncanny cannot marry Michael. I'll make sure of that,"
"But why?"
"Because, dammit, she's my WIFE!" I shouted, frustrated and pulling on the strands of my hair.
Mira choked on nothing, glaring daggers at me. Her mouth agape, "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY, JAVAN?"
"Uncanny and I are married..." at that moment, we heard someone stumbling by the door. We gave each other a suspicious look. Mira carefully went to the door and gently opened it, but no one was in sight. I followed her, standing by the doorway; I caught on a familiar fragrance.
"May..."
Mira's head slowly turned to me, giving me an odd look, one that read 'How the hell do you know that?'. "I know her scent, Mira. I can never forget the scent of a woman I almost tasted."
"Wow, Javan. TMI. What are you going to do?"
"Don't worry, Mira. I can handle her. I'll see you later," I replied as I hugged her. I waited for her to leave before I headed to Tremayne's office. Unbuttoning the first two buttons of my shirt and rolling up the sleeves, I charged to her office.
Without knocking, I barged into her office. She looked petrified, making me smile. "Hello, pretty lady..." I stalked towards her side of the desk. Roughly turning her chair towards me, I began to play with her luscious locks. "Tell me why you were spying on my sister and me. Or perhaps you want a taste of-" without hesitation, I ripped her blouse open. She glared daggers at me, her eyes filled with rage and fear. I went back to playing with her hair; May didn't utter a word and did not try fighting me off. I smirked. Tremayne Duke knew me too well.
"I do not believe that my friend married you! You blackmailed her," she seethed.
Chuckling, I left her desk; she quickly tried to cover herself up. Hands in my pockets, I stood by the window, "Oh, so you were spying on us,"
"Go to hell, Javan! You're a monster. You claim that you love her, but you never did!" she spat.
With lightning speed, I slapped her hard. Her mouth hung open as she touched her cheek, "It's cute that you think that, May. The reality is, we have a marriage certificate that is 19 years old and valid. You, out of all people, know exactly how I feel about Uncanny." May wanted to fight, but her conscience wouldn't let her. She opted to keep her mouth shut. "Do not stand in my way, or Nana's fate will befall you."
I threatened her and walked out of her office. Entering my own, I felt a weight on my shoulders. I had done so many fucked up things. My frustration got the best of me, and I ended up blurting out a 19-year-old secret that I had kept from Mira because I knew she would not have approved. Layla knew she was the youngest. I could trust her. I pulled out a bottle of tequila that I hid in my own office; to calm my nerves, sure I seemed like a complicated guy, but I had deep-seated issues. Mira and I weren't far apart in age, and thus we saw it all, endured it, and made sure Layla didn't. Mira fucked up by getting pregnant with Lucrecia and Luu, who aren't far apart as well.
Our mom died at the hands of our father. He was an alcoholic and very abusive. At times Mira and I took the blows for our sick mother. We didn't grow up in a loving environment. It was hard to get by because I knew I should have treated Uncanny better. I told myself that I would not treat my woman the same way my father treated my mom, but it was what I had done to her in the name of 'love' I became the monster I feared.
