KP's POV
I could not believe the atrocity that came out of Lucrecia's mouth. Who on their right state of mind would ever...
"I know you don't understand Kamilah. I don't blame you." She hugged herself.
"No. I'm trying to understand Cece." Lucrecia scoffed and walked out the restroom. I followed. She walked as though she had no worries in the world, with her hands folded behind her."You should go back to class." She instructed. I blinked. Momentarily, the announcer speaker went on. "Ladies and gentlemen. Sorry for the delay. The Freshers Ball best dressed winner announcement will be made in due time. For today, there has been some minor changes, and thus classes are cancelled. All teachers assemble to the auditorium. There is an emergency meeting. Thank you." The speaker went off.
"So, what do you wanna do since we're free for the day and I don't have to go home this early?" I clasped my hands together in excitement. In mere minutes we were already in her dorm room. She went to her closet and took out a new set of clothes. She dressed in a stone cotton pinstripe shirt dress featuring a collar neckline, short sleeved and a belted waist. The dress reached mid thigh. Completing the look with platform stilettos and her raven her in a high ponytail. Her high cheekbones were prominent. She was quite the looker.
She turned around and eyed me down. Then went to 'my side' of the closet. Taking out a black vynil bralette and mini skirt co ord set with nude stilettos. "Put this on." I nodded and did as such. Allowing my hair to cascade behind me. "Aren't you a pretty little Riri!?" She clasped her hands, filled with glee. A chuckle escaped me. "So, what now?" My eyes darted from my outfit to hers.
"Well, mini Rihanna. We're gonna pay my dad a visit." She stated, fixing her hair. "What!?" I was perplexed. She shrugged, "He has to know." I sighed, agreeing with her. We left her room and in the hallway, we came across Ms Layla. "Girls." She forced a smile. "The headmistress wants to see you Lucrecia."
I could sense a bit of tension between them. "Uhm, I'll wait for you here."
"No. You're coming with." Ms Layla gave her a stern look, she glared back at her. Daring her. "Fine." Ms Layla agreed. Leading us to the Headmistress's office. We got in and found the headmistress, Mr Donna and Mrs Donna waiting on us. "Take a seat girls. Ms Layla, thank you. " We obliged."Why are we here?" I asked, feeling agitated. "Well, only Ms Donna should be here. Since you're friends, I guess you can stay." The headmistress shrugged with a smile. "Lucrecia, there's a rumor escalating..." Mrs Duke demeanor changed. She was all seriousness now. I gulped incoherently. "It's true." Lucrecia responded, her eyes locked with the headmistress's. Challenging her. My head snapped to her direction. I glared at her. Is she trying to get expelled!? Mrs Duke's eyebrows rose.
"So you're saying that the allegations of you being pregnant are true?"
"WHAT THE HELL!?" Mrs Donna fumed. Glaring daggers at Lucrecia. Mr Donna averted his eyes. "Who's responsible?" Mrs Donna questioned. I somehow felt like she already knew the answer, and was just playing dumb. Trying to look righteous or something. Lucrecia folded her arms and sat back on the chair. Her left eyebrow rose, "Daddy? Should I?"
Silence. Ms Layla, Mrs Duke and Mrs Donna exchanged looks. Seemingly to have concluded, but wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth. "Who's the father Luu?" Questioned Ms Layla, her voice soft, yet daring. Wait? Why did she call her that?
"Really?" Lucrecia chuckled, shaking her head. "Mom? You really have no idea? You seem to have caught on, on my escapades with a certain somebody."
"What is she talking about Mira?" Ms Layla directed her question to Mrs Donna. The walls seemed to cave in on her. Her face paled. "No, it can't be." She whispered, petrified. "Yes mom. Daddy is the daddy of my baby." My mouth hung open. I could not believe Lucrecia. It was like she was a different person. The sweet girl I was used to seemed to have been left behind in her room and this person who sat next to me was some alter ego version or something.
"What the hell!? You've screwed her too and knocked her up!? The hell Daniel!?" Ms Layla exploded. Stomping her foot. Glaring at Mr Donna, who didn't seem quite fazed. Mrs Duke sat back on her chair, awestruck. Her mouth gaping. Blinking, trying to convince herself that it was all a dream.
Ms Layla spoke, "How could you let this happen?""Oh you're one to talk. You've slept with my husband too." Barked Mrs Donna.
I blinked. Once. Twice. What? "So Mr Donna, not only has he slept with Mrs Donna-obviously, Lucrecia and Ms Layla too? How do you come in the picture?" I thought out loud. "Ms Layla is my aunt. My mom's sister." My eyes darted to all three of them, nodding awkwardly. "So what now?" Mrs Duke rubbed her temple. "You know the school's policy Lucrecia, we can't have a pregnant student.""She'll abort." Mrs Duke stated, folding her arms. "The hell?" Lucrecia fumed. Rising to her feet. "That ain happening mom. It's not my fault that your husband found his way in my sheets." She folded her arms.
"You're such a disgrace. You're disgusting. He's your father!"
"No. He's my step father. If anything there is no incest there. I have every right to keep this baby." She fought back.
Ms Layla said, "You know you can't Luu!" Drying her teary eyes.
"And who are you to make that judgement? Daddy, choose. Right here, right now. It's either them or me."
No one dared to speak. You could even hear a pin drop. The silence was awkward and the tension rose. Finally, Mr Donna rose from his seat. Walking towards Ms Layla with a hearty smile. I held Cece's hand. She was trembling. Mr Donna stood infront of Ms Layla, cupping her face. She blushed. "I never loved you. You were just a quick release for me when I had issues with your sister." Her bottom lip began quivering. More tears stained her round face. "I'm sorry Layla." He left her and went to Mrs Donna.
"I'm sorry honey, for any pain that I may have inflicted on your life. You're not the easiest person to be around either and I found comfort in your daughter." He leaned down and took out some papers in his briefcase. "I loved you once, but your relationship with your daughters' real dad is something I can never comprehend. So I'll set you free. To be with the one you love." He forced a smile. He signed on the papers and handed them to her. Everything happened so fast.
We were all flabbergasted. "My real dad is alive? Why did you lie mom?" Lucrecia sobbed. Mr Donna came over to where we sat. He held Lucrecia's hands in his. He gave her a look that gave me butterflies. Aww. "Forgive me baby doll, for being a weak man. I love you and you mean the world to me. You and this baby." We all thought that all that is well ends well. The papers were signed. All but Mrs Donna refused. Ms Layla left. Mr Donna asked for another meeting to discuss a way forward.
As we descended the stairs, "This isn't over!" Mrs Donna cried pushing Lucrecia over the stairs. "Cece!?" I cried covering my mouth. I watched as she tumbled over the stairs.
Mr Donna and I were glued to the spot. Completely numbed by such an event. When consciousness returned to us, we rushed down the stairs. "Why Mira!?" Mr Donna cried. He scanned over Lucrecia's body. She was unconscious. I covered my mouth as the tears streamed down my cheeks. The life draining from me. Her groin was covered in blood.
