KP's POV

Today I went back to school; I hated everyone's pitying gazes upon me, and it made me sick I had lost my father, not a body part.

I sat alone during lunch and didn't expect to sit by anyone. "I'm sorry about your dad," his voice rang in my ears; I took in a shaky breath.

"Not as sorry as I am," I replied, avoiding eye contact. Angelo didn't say much after that. We sat in complete silence even though there was a lot to say. Unfortunately, the bell cut the thought short. We quickly dispersed back into our respective classes.

I sat by the window just browsing through my mind when, "Good Afternoon, boys and girls." Not much attention to whoever was speaking. "I am looking for Kamilah Paisley Maeve." I shifted my focus in the direction I heard my name addressed. My jaw dropped; My eyes began watering. The lady wore a delightful warm smile, strangely she looked like my father. The lady walked over to me.

"Hi," she said in a hushed tone. She dressed so prestigious and yet classy. She wiped away a few tears on my cheeks with her hand. It took me by surprise that I was tearing up. "I want you to follow me, okay?" I nodded and packed my books. I followed her out of the classroom. At that moment, Uncanny was walking in our direction. The serene atmosphere dimmed.

"Veronica."

"Uncanny." They both stood at a measurable distance from each other.

"Something tells me you're not besties," I mumbled.

"Why are you here?"

"I'm here for my daughter, Onica."

"Don't you ever call me that again! and your daughter? Since when? You wanted to abandon her. Uncanny; you gave away your maternal rights when you handed her to Michael. So if you will excuse me, come along, Kamilah."

Uncanny stood in our way as she folded her arms, "You're not going anywhere with her."

Veronica scoffed, "Watch me." She spat and pushed passed Uncanny. We went to the principal's office. Ms. Veronica and I barged in instead of knocking. "Hi, excuse me. Veronica Maeve, Heiress..." The principal choked on his spit, I squinted my eyes. It seemed like he knew who she was.

"Maeve?" I questioned, confused.

"I am your father's twin sister." That explains the resemblance. Veronica sat down on the chair in front of the principal's table.

"How may I help you, Miss Veronica?" The principal was stuttering. Weird.

"I would like to request an immediate transfer for my niece."

"What?" The principal and I said in unison.

"Just what the heck do you think you're doing, Onica?" Uncanny walked in.

My aunt held her composure and didn't seem fazed, "Taking my niece to where she belongs." She responded coyly.

"You can't do that I have already set up a meeting with the Headmistress of Saint Xavior High. You are not taking her anywhere."

"Funny, that's where I'm taking her." She replied, rising off the chair to face my mother. My aunt was a sarcasm goddess. I loved it!

Uncanny blew a fuse. "I am her mother! You have no right to do that Veronica, I-"

"Am her legal guardian." My aunt cut her off with a smirk. "That's what the papers say. My brother's will also states it. If you have a problem, you can meet up with my lawyers. Now, please, close the door on your way out." Shots fired! My mouth hung open. Uncanny huffed and stormed out.

"Do you mean it, Miss Veronica?"

"Call me Auntie and no... I am just messing with her. Michael taught me how to push Uncanny's buttons, Hunny." I loved how she talked. Classy and sassy. She focused her attention on Mr principal now. "Those documents aren't out already?" The principal gulped and took out what was needed. We signed over them and headed outside.

"So, where are we going?"

"To get you a new school uniform and have you ready to attend by tomorrow, if you are willing, sweetie."

I chirped, "Course I am. I've lost a week's worth of work already. I Don't want to lose more."

And so that's how I got to know my dad had a twin sister named Veronica. A little upsetting that I didn't know about it sooner. "Why did you come for me, Aunt Onica?" She chuckled. I expected her to lash out at me as she did with Uncanny, but she was chilled about it.

"My brother calls me that..."

"What?" She puzzled my thoughts.

"He used to call me that. I hate it when Uncanny says it because I can't stand her. I told my brother from the start, that she was no good for him but Michael, never listened."

It made sense now. "Michael left home with his share of our dad's inheritance to start his empire with you. I've been looking for you since I found out about his passing. Grateful the media is out of it. I can't let Uncanny ruin you the same way she ruined Michael."

"What do you mean?"

She sighed, "Not knowing how to love." My heart sank. We got in her car and we were driven to Marley's. I knocked and Marley opened for us. "Marley, darling!" Man, my aunt is one classy lady. "How do you know each other?"

"Onica was Michael's twin. There was no way we couldn't notice her royal sassiness. You've always stood out in the crowd."

Aunt Onica grinned and posed. "Obviously. One of us had to be the classy one. Michael didn't suit the image. Unlike me." We all laughed and went inside.

"It's good to see you again." Said Josh. Aunt Onica winked and laughed.

She then later explained how our day transpired requesting that Uncanny did not get my custody. I felt engraved and angered for some rationale.

Not knowing how to love. She doesn't know how to love me and yet wants to make claims.

The anger faded, replaced with sadness. "It's going to be okay sweetie. We will take care of you."
