He backed away from me with a jerk. He groaned and screamed holding his hand to his face. I didn't give him a second glance. My legs were working faster than my brain, they sensed the urgency of the situation. I ran, I wasn't looking where I was going. My mind was in a frenzy as my legs took me to the schools green house.

I felt it before I saw it, right at the corner next to an hibiscus plant, was a shard of glass the size of a new born baby's fist. I couldn't stop the shrill that left my mouth. I slapped my hand over it as the realisation hit me, there could still be teachers around maybe even students.

I didn't want anyone here. I didn't want to explain anything or have anyone sympathize with me. And even though I was mad at Adrian I knew he would get into trouble if anyone was to know.

With my back against the cold glass of the building, I slid to the floor. It was then I noticed other pieces of glass on the floor and a bug hole in the section of glass to my right. But these pieces weren't nearly as big as the one still in my foot.

So I got the big one, I thought wryly.

I felt a prickly pain that reminded me of the crystalline shard still wedged in the skin of my foot. I managed to slip off my flats, the glass had pierced right through them.

I winced as I felt the pain move from my leg. I crossed my injured leg over the other so I could properly examine it.

What I'd thought to be the size of a baby's fist was actually bigger. A foreign feeling washed over me as I stared at it. I gasped feeling another shock of pain, the longer I left it in the more it would hurt

With my right hand I held on tightly to my ankle and with my left I gently placed my thumb and index on the glass. I closed my eyes in expectation of the pain to come but it never did. I was just too scared.

I paused, hearing the sound of footsteps close by. I froze as the door to the green house opened.

He walked in and moved towards me, his green eyes barely looking at me. He crouched close to me and I gasped as his cold hands met my skin.

Had he touched me before now? Oh yes when he carried me to the nurses office.

But then I hadn't been aware enough to notice his icy touch.

His eyebrows furrowed as he observed my bleeding leg. "This will sting a little" I hadn't fully processed what he'd said when I felt a sharp sting. I gave a pained groan as I shut my eyes trying to bear the pain. He'd pulled it out in one swift move, he was so fast my eyes had barely captured the motion.

The sole of my right foot was now soaked as blood, my blood gushed out.

I looked at Leon, but paused as his expression startled me. The perfect lines of his face had hardened, his jaw was tightened and the emerald of his eyes were now as dark as a forest.

I could sense his distress, was he worried? About who... Me? "Leon" I whispered, "Leon" silence. He ignored me as he ripped a piece of his shirt. "Leon what are you doing here?" silence. He wrapped it around my foot. "Leon I'm talking to you" silence.

He picked me up slowly and carried me out of the glass building, bridal style. We reached the front of the school. I scanned the lot which was now practically empty and found my car at the other end. I still felt something was missing but I couldn't remember what it was exactly. I brushed off the thou as Leon placed me in the back seat of his car then he got in the driver's seat and we were moving. Not one of us said a word to the other and sometime along the way, the world went blank.
