"'Something came up' is not a good enough answer." His mother said in a remarkably calm tone. "I have made my case. I understand that you have a busy schedule, we all do, however; that gives you no right to leave such an important event yesterday when you'd picked that date yourself." She added, getting up from her seat.

"Mother, I-" Mason started before his mother cut him off, "No. I'm not taking any of your excuses, I have come up with a plan." She paused for a minute, straightening her blazer. "Tyson has made plans to take Vanessa away for a week, and now you and Sarah will go with them too."

Tyson looked shocked and a bit disappointed, "You made plans for us to go away for a week?" Vanessa whispered to Tyson in awe.

"Well, yeah. But this is not how you were supposed to find out." He shook his head and massaged his forehead with two of his fingers.

"Awe, that's so sweet." She smiled and kissed him on his cheek.

Mason chuckled, "A whole week? You've got to be kidding." Mrs. Wilson glared at her son. "It was hard enough to get a day off of work, you expect-"

"Yes the day I LET YOU PICK!" She sighed, "We are going back to the same page. I don't want to hear another word from you. I don't care how much money you lose. You are going, and that is final." She finished. Everyone, including me watched this in awe sipping our coffee. If only there was popcorn. I don't think anyone else was as amused and happy to hear her talk to Mason like that than me.

It's like he could sense my joy. He turned to me unexpectedly, fixing his cold eyes on me. Then it hit me, Why am I so happy? I'm the one that's going to have to spend a week with him! He saw the horror in my eyes, before he said "Okay, I'll think about it," before quickly moving off the subject, "I'm sorry we've had to officially meet under such conditions." He pulled out his right hand in front of my father. No one had actually realized that Mason hadn't actually been introduced to my parents or my sister. We'd just been engaged but no words had been exchanged.

I examined the way Mason slid between one conversation to another with such skill, it was impressive. He kept himself calm and contained with a sly smile on his face, like he was the perfect man... like there was nothing screwed up and disgusting about him.

By the time they'd left, my dad and Mason had almost become buds. "It was nice meeting you Son." My dad smiled, shaking his hand with great confidence.

Vanessa and Tyson went out, right after the freakish Mother/Son Duo left. I was going to grab a drink from the fridge when I heard my mom and dad discussing their impressions of Mason. "At first I was a skeptical, the way he was talking to his mother in front of us, but I understand, he is a spoiled man, what else could we expect. No one's perfect." Pfft, yeah and he sure isn't. " Yeah, and Vanessa and Sarah back talk to you too time to time. It's normal in a family." Dad pointed out. " I think he'll take good care of Sarah." He added. "I know he will." My mom nodded in certainty.

The sun went down and the moon came up.

I'd done nothing but wait, all day. I didn't even know if I was going to find out today or tomorrow. I just needed time to prepare myself in every way possible, if I was going on the Torture Trip.

The night went by painstakingly slow, like watching grass grow in the winter. I watched a movie, read parts of the most boring book I owned and wrote an entry for a journal or diary. Once all failed I decided to try just forcing my eyes close. I turned restlessly multiple times, I could hear many voices and thoughts pop into my head.

I woke up to the ringing of my phone, I glanced at the time, 7:28am. Great I'd slept for two hours and twelve minutes exactly. My eyes then read the caller id: Mrs. Wilson/Mother-in-Law TO BE. I picked it up without another thought, "Morning Sarah, after Mason considered his options and as luck would have it he found someone who can look after his job for a week, so he has agreed on going on the short trip. You and Vanessa should go shopping, a driver will come and take you at 10." I was left frazzled for a second, not being able to collect my thoughts. All I heard was shopping. "Oh we can go ourselves, no worries." I shut my eyes for a second, wanting to sleep for at least another two hours. "No no darling, the driver will take you to some old friends, their the only company we get our clothes from other than ours." I restrained myself from groaning, "Okay then, we'll be waiting. Thank You." I dropped my phone of the bed and snuggled comfortably into my bed. Wait, what am I shopping for? My eyes widened and I leapt out of bed. THE TORTURE TRIP! Shit, he agreed.

The past couple of days were spent preparing for this trip. I put my all into organizing and packing, double, triple, quadruple checking if I had everything and once I was done with mine, I checked Vanessa's. I was trying to escape it, when in reality it just came closer.

There were, however; different ways to think of this, the negatives and the positives. I didn't want to think of the negatives, so I focused on the positives:

1. There'll most likely be a beach! 2. Tanning on the beach 3. Doing exciting fun things like snorkeling and surfing 4. Hotel service, so no cleaning 5. Hanging out with Vanessa

Unless, 1. Mason murders me or 2. We don't go to a beach.

Taking a deep breath I walked onto the jet right after Vanessa. Mason caught the corner of my eye, my breath hitched. Clenching onto the handle of my purse I sat as far away from Mason as possible, without causing any suspicion of course. I tried to make it seem as if I was just picking a random seat. I made myself comfortable before a gorgeous air hostess came around with the champagne. "Thanks," lastly, she offered one to Mason. He whispered something into her ear before winking at her. I shook my head in annoyance before looking out the window. I just wanted the trip to be over with already.
