Sarah's P.O.V

The wine glass in my fingers almost slipped out. I gasped and my eyes widened at Mrs. Wilson.
How on earth did we change from getting Vanessa married to getting ME married!? And who the hell's Mason? I don't see anyone else here? She can't just propose on some other stranger's behalf!
"Are you kidding?" I asked, hoarsely.

"No dear, as much as we like Vanessa... We like you as well. We want you to marry Tyson's younger brother, my son, Mason." She commented, in a perfectly calm voice. As if she's forced many girls to marry her son. Who knows actually, as far as I know, she might've!

I stared at her in disbelief, I looked around to see that everyone else was just as flabbergasted as I was. Most likely not expecting the turn of events. "Now Teresa, don't you think you're-" Her husband started, trying to talk to his wife.

"No Brad, I don't." She cut him off, not even sharing a glance.

My dad tried his luck, "Now, this was not discussed, Mrs. Wilson. We are only here with Vanessa's proposal. Sarah's not ready."

"With all due respect, if anything, this is an incredible complement. We don't just like everyone Mr. Rai. Sarah looks like a beautiful and confident woman, and I want her to be my daughter-in-law. Without her acceptance, the entire proposal is off." She seemed determined on her impulsive decision.

I looked around at all the somber faces. But I couldn't just marry some random guy that happened to be her son. It was much too soon for me! I mean, yeah if I hadn't found 'the one' I would meet a family and a nice guy and settle down LATER. Just like what Vanessa was planning on doing. I wanted to finish school, get a job, then get married, have kids. A nice normal life. This was not planned!

"May I be excused?" I asked, before shooting out of the booth and walking away; not giving them a chance to reply.

I walked out of the restaurant, not wanting to see them. I halted a cab and was about to sit in it when someone tapped on my shoulder. I knew my sister too well. "Yes Vanessa," I whispered, closing my eyes, just to remember her crushed expression from a few minutes ago.

"Let's go, you don't have to do this." She muttered, trying to sound confident, but I could hear the straining.

"Don't lie, it doesn't suit you," I murmured when a tear escaped my eye. I opened my eyes cautiously.

"Oh come on, don't be a baby!" She frowned.

"Really now! I'll stop being a baby when you honestly tell me that you didn't feel a connection between you and Tyson!" I shouted at her.

"I-I" She started, before her voice instantly cracked.

I hugged her tight. "Go inside, spend some time with Tyson," I commanded, before pulling away.

"What's the point!" She cried.

"Shouldn't each second mean everything if you're separated with 'the one'?" I tried to point out.

"Might as well enjoy it, while I have it, right?" She agreed, averting my gaze. "You're not coming?" She asked.

"I'd rather not," I commented, before sitting in the cab. Quickly telling to the cab driver my address; we drove away. Looking out the window, dramatically, I thought things over.

I'd already made my decision the minute after Mrs. Wilson had made the proposal. I would do anything for my sister-I'd give her my life without a second thought. Marrying a guy for her happiness was something I was more than willing to do.
