Chapter 3

It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.

Sarah's P.O.V

Its been two days since I signed and agreed to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson's terms and I've been thinking about getting a job, because after I'd signed the document and they were leaving, they reminded me that it wasn't necessary for me to get a job. Because I would be getting a card with an unlimited amount of money, for anything I desired, several times! They just seemed to shove their wealth in my face at every chance they had, it's like I didn't have any money! Well... I honestly didn't have nearly as much as them, but still!

However, on the bright side, their bragging motivated me to actually want a job even more. I'd made a decision not to use the card at all, I would get things from my own earnings.

Yesterday, I'd gone to school to explain my unfortunate despair and to tell them I couldn't attend uni any longer.

One of my professors suggested a job as a high ranking Indian fashion designer's assistant. Apparently they wanted someone who was familiar with Indian clothes and since I was half Indian-kinda of, I would be allegeable for the offer.

So now, here I am wearing an Indian suit in front of a huge building.

I'd hoped that if I wore an indian suit, it would increase my chance in getting in.

Taking a deep breath I walked in, only to be greeted by a bitchy desk lady. "What the heck are you doing here?" She laughed in a snobby way. "I'm here for the assistant job offer." I commented shyly. She looked me up an down, "That spot's taken." She said stiffly, before picking up a nail file, and filing her nails discreetly. "There must be something I can do?" I asked desperation hinting my voice. "Fine, wait til' Ma'am comes. She might be able to get you something to do." I smiled to her, "Thanks," Before I took a seat in the front, waiting patiently. I couldn't help wondering what this "Ma'am's" name was, I mean seriously is she really that important that she needs to be called Ma'am all the time. Different thoughts withered through my head as time slowly ticked by.

Not even ten minutes later, I heard a powerful woman's voice yelling at someone, "Get out, right now! Im firing you already, you disappointing bitch!" I heard her curse.

I flinched, please don't tell that's who "Ma'am" is, because she sure sounds like a pain in the ass-no offense.

"Did you not hear me, I said get out! If I see you around here again, I will make sure that you don't get a job at any fashion designing places in the world!" The same loud female voice raged. Then a shocked looking girl, about my age came into the lobby with a very pretty, but pissed looking woman following from behind her.

As much as I felt bad for the girl that'd just been fired, I couldn't stop myself from feeling relieved that atleast a position had opened up.

I stood up from my seat, trying to look confident. After the young girl left, the raged, pretty woman took a deep breath and tried to massage her temples with her fingertips. "You could not believe what just happened! I just hired this desperate girl as my secretary right... well yeah you were there, but do you know what just happened!?! Of course you don't! Kay, so I tell the slut to give the files to M.A.W Sir right, and yeah she goes up there and then starts flirting with him! Like OMG she had her skirt pulled up and ugh it was just disgusting! That whore!" She blabbed to the Bitchy desk girl, completely ignoring me. But at least now I knew that this woman was really protective of M.A.W Sir, which I'm guessing is the boss.

I was now sure that I would get the position for sure,"Hello, I'm Sarah Rai. I've come here wondering if you had a position available for me at your office." I pulled out my hand for a handshake. She looked at me disgusted. She didn't like my attire. I guess wearing this wasn't going to make the impression I wanted it to make, but I was surely going to bring it to my advantage.

I tried to look desperate and innocent. "I need the job and I'm a hard worker, oh and you will definitely have no flirting problems with me, I'm actually getting married." I added.

She seemed to be sizing me up, "Well, I am a bit desperate.  I'll look at your papers, before and then make a decision. And as for the flirting problems? Looking at you, I seriously don't think I'll be having that issue." She snickered at the end. I smiled sweetly. The so called insult didn't affect me at all. I gave her the papers that bragged about me,myself,  and I, already getting excited for tomorrow, knowing that she was definitely going to be hiring me.

She read through it, right there. It didn't take her a minute before she told me,"Your actually almost over qualified for your spot. If you finish your studies then you'll be qualified to actually be in my spot. Will you be able to juggle between work and school though? I need a full time secretary. Sorry, I can't have you part-time." She started, handing me back my  papers in surprise, not expecting me to be that educated with these clothes. Well I say, don't judge a book by its cover.

I thoroughly explained my marriage situation, not revealing too much though. Without hesitation,  she told me I could start right away, and so I did.

I walked into the main office area,  and was surprised by how much larger it was from what I'd imagined. Everyone seemed to stop and stare at me,  but it seemed like they were laughing at me.  Really guys?  You work with Indian clothes yet you laugh at a girl wearing it.  Ridiculous.

I walked confidently to the other side of the room to do my first job. "Oh, and congrats, on your marriage, by the way." Ma'am said later on in the day. "Uhm, ya thanks." I whispered.
