Although wondering about what happened last night with Mason disturbed my thoughts, I wasn't going to lie and say that it stopped me from eating.
Because truth be told, I was starving, and that omelet was too good to just lose my appetite over. I didn't even notice the weird silence between the three of us as we ate, because I was far too busy devouring the last bit.
Once I was done, I sipped on my hot chocolate a bit before excusing myself to go to the washroom.
I splashed cold water on my face a little to freshen up. My face was absolutely naked and it felt great.
I walked out of the washroom to be greeted by Luna.
I smiled at her and she returned a soft, kind smile back before resting her hand on my forearm as if an important conversation was about to take place.
"Sarah, honey, I know this isn't my place and you have absolutely no obligation to listen to me. But please, for my sake, for your sake, talk to Mason." She sighed, "I've known Mason for a couple years. He's always had a kind heart but masked it. But he's been here for over six weeks after living on a train's private cabin in the Rockies. He was lost. And I swear, I've never seen that boy lost. I didn't think it was possible. At first, I was upset with you, for breaking him like this, and for not talking to him. But every morning, he came half drunk, rambling about how he'd done so many things wrong and lost the greatest thing in his life right now." She reached for my hands, squeezing them to get her point across. "I hope you know that he would never intentionally hurt you. He does love you. Because if that isn't love then I don't know what love is. I can tell that you're a smart and strong woman Sarah. I don't know all that you two have been through, but if Mason was that torn. I don't know how you're keeping yourself up. And for someone to make Mason the way he is right now, vulnerable, it takes a certain type of a kind, powerful woman. You two are just stubborn and it's what's causing the problem. I hope you can be the bigger person and just talk it through, at least once."
I nodded, my head still processing her words. My voice had shriveled up inside me before I finally whispered, "I promise, I will." She gave a tight hug before we walked to the table, "okay now kids, have a safe flight and don't forget to come and visit again and this time, not after a year, okay Mason?" He nodded his head grinning.
Chad came from behind, "but next time, a week stay will suffice, with less alcohol eh?"
Mason rolled his eyes, "yeah yeah." He got up and gave them a hug before mumbling his gratitude.
Nearly two hours had flown by a lot quicker than I'd initially expected. We decided to head over to Mason's hotel to pick up his things and personally check-out since there was a bit of time to spare. Blake and I went to the room and fetched his things while Mason dealt with the front desk.
The room was a mess. But still clean, I'm guessing that's due to the housekeeping. Packing was easy to say the least. There was a suitcase, in it was a single suit. While pairs of jeans, long dress shirts, and boxers littered the floor. I didn't know if any of it was clean and I didn't want to know. I just shoved it all in before checking the locker (the code being the room number) and pulling out his wallet, cash, and his passport. Blake checked around for anything that was laying around, he found a watch along with a few other things.
Once we were sure there was nothing worth keeping left over, we started to make our way to the lobby. But I'd noticed that Blake was on edge. He didn't make any jokes or snide comments.
"Something wrong?" I decided to finally ask.
"Nah, I'm just thinking about the fight last night. I don't know what could have happened. Last I heard, Clarke and Mason were on good terms but I just don't know why Mason has beef with his friends."
