18- The Heir

Snape did not know how to respond to Grindelwald's curtsy so you helped him. 'Curtsy back like a lady would,' you thought. Snape read your mind and curtsied like you told him to. "Why did you want to speak with me?" Grindelwald asked. "I wanted to find out more about myself, and Mr. James told me you know something I do not," Snape said. He was playing his part well. Snape has been observing you since the moment he met you.

"Mr. Killian is right. I do have an idea of what you are," Grindelwald responded. Snape widened his eyes and so did you. You looked past the men and saw Sirius drawing your attention. He was waving like a bird flapping his wings. You smiled and rolled your eyes. You elbowed Remus. "Look at Sirius," you said. Remus chuckled. "Idiot," Remus said. You turned your attention back to Snape. "Can you tell me?" Snape asked. Grindelwald paced around. He walked towards the well you and Remus were hiding behind. You stayed low so he could not see the both of you. You quickly moved around the well.

Snape saw you moving as Grindelwald walked around the well. He did not see you and Snape sighed. You held your breath. You saw Lucius and Sirius looking at you from behind the house. "Stay low," Lucius mumbled. You could read his lips and stayed low. Before Grindelwald walked back to Snape, you and Remus had crawled back to the spot you were at first. "Pfffff, that was close," Remus whispered. A tiny drop of sweat passed your eye. You wiped it off.

You gave a thumbs up towards Lucius and Sirius to let them know you were okay. While walking back, Grindelwald had asked Snape what he would like to know. "I need to know everything," Snape said. Grindelwald nodded. "I am going to ask you some questions, and you need to answer them honestly," he said. "Anything," Snape responded. You hoped Snape could answer the questions as honestly as he could. He did not know everything about you of course. Grindelwald began.

"Have you ever heard of Legilimency?" he asked. "Yes, but I have not done it before. Occlumency, on the other hand, I am beginning to master it," Snape responded. You had not yet noticed you were beginning to get better. But since the day you shielded your mind from Snape's manipulation, he was beginning to wonder if you were a natural talent. You looked at Remus. "Ahw he is giving me a compliment," you said. Remus chuckled. Grindelwald was pacing around. "Have you ever spoken to a snake before?" he asked. Snape looked confused. "To a snake?" Snape asked him. He nodded. 'No' you thought. "No I have not," Snape answered. Grindelwald looked surprised like this was not the answer he was hoping for.

"Is there some family heirloom which you possess?" he asked lastly. You were chocked. 'How does he know?' you thought. Snape heard your thoughts and responded. "Yes I do," he said. 'Snape, the heirloom is just a necklace,' you thought. "It is a necklace," Snape said. Grindelwald smiled. "Can you describe it for me?" he asked. Snape was waiting for your answer. 'It is like an octagon with a snake on it,' you thought. "It is an octagon necklace with a snake on it," Snape said quickly. Grindelwald turned around. "This is good. very good," Grindelwald said. You looked at Remus. "And why is that a good thing?" you asked. Remus raised his shoulders.

Grindelwald turned back. Snape was starting to get his dark hair back. Something went wrong. Terribly wrong. "Oh no!" you said to Remus. It was too late. Snape was already transforming back into himself. Grindelwald noticed. He stood there like he was not surprised. "Well who do we have here?" Grindelwald asked. Sirius and Lucius looked as chocked as you did. "Fuck," you could hear Snape say. "Severus Snape," he said. Grindelwald looked like he did not care. "Where is she?" he asked. Snape did not turn around otherwise he would give away your position. 'No no no no no', you thought. Snape was acting all calm while your mind was a wild ocean. "What do we do now?" you asked Remus. "Just wait. He can figure this out," Remus answered.

You looked at Sirius and Lucius and gave them a concerned look. They were not happy either. "I do not know where she is. I wanted to find out about her secretly," Snape said. Grindelwald did not believe any of the excuses Snape told him. "Come out, come out, wherever you are," Grindelwald yelled while turning circles. He knew you were there and that Snape was talking rubbish. You promised Snape you would not let anything happen to him. 'I am sorry love, I promised you,' you thought. Snape turned around and yelled "no!". You slowly stood up. Remus stood up with you. "There you are," Grindelwald said. He came walking towards you.
