17. The Car Crash

"Vince died in a car crash"
Nikki collapsed into a chair
We hadn't had any connection to the news, papers or anyone while we were away, Nikki walked over to a pay phone and called management
"There's been an accident" Doc said
"Oh my god it's true!" Nikki said
"Yeah, Vince is pretty fucked" Doc replied
"I'll say he is, he's dead dude" Nikki said
"What are you talking about man?" Doc asked
Doc then explained the story that Razzle was dead and Vince was in rehab.

TW DEPRESSION, SELF HARM, DRUG ABUSE

A/N - I hate this part I feel like it sucks and I just have to write it to get to the better stuff, after this part the story parts will get longer than normal and there will be characters changes and stuff, so just power through- Lana

Vince was charged with vehicular manslaughter, he was released on a $2500 bail until the trial, he was looking at seven years of prison and the end of his career, though a promise that he went to rehab and stayed sober kept him out of prison.

Y/Ns POV

The whole car ride home neither one of us said a word, we had no idea what to say or how to even comprehend what was going on, you had only hung out with Razzle a handful of times, but he always had a great energy to him, you couldn't believe that his life was over just like that. Michael and Andy from Hanoi Rocks ended up staying at the house with you and Nikki, it turned into a strange intense friendship bonded by death, drugs, and self destruction.

"Nikki we should go see him" you said
"See who" he asked
"Vince, in rehab" you stated
"What" he said
"Jesus, the accident Nikki, sober the fuck up" you told him
"Oh right" he said
Nikki would get so junked out that when Vince was on the news he would ask what happened.

You sat down on the couch in the office, you started scratching at your arm, you did this when you were upset, it left marks and scabs, it wasn't healthy but it helped you release your stress.

Later in the week you, Nikki, and Tommy decided to go visit Vince in rehab, no one could get a hold of Mick, he was probably too drunk,
Tommys car pulled up and you and Nikki hopped in,
"Hey guys" Tommy said
"Hey man" Nikki said
"Hi" you said
"Damn you guys look wrecked" he said
"Dude Razzles dead did you think we'd be peachy" Nikki said
"No I know man, you guys just don't even seem like your trying to live" he said
"We're fine seriously" you said
"Just drive"

When you guys talked to Vince it was really awkward but you found out that everything was going to be fine, Vince only had to do thirty days in jail, so the boys would be able to continue touring and writing their new album.

The next month went by and the year of 1985 started off with everyone being distant from each other, the only time everyone was together was at the studio and even then they were just doing what they had to.
One day at the studio you and the band were introduced to a group called 'Guns N' Roses',
"Oh shit it's motley" Steven said
"Hey i'm Nikki" he said
"Cool man i'm Slash" Slash said
Everyone said hi to each other and proceeded to hang out for a bit, all the guys were really nice and fun to hangout with.

Later at the studio this accountant woman came in and she brought her friend Nicole who was an aspiring actress, you caught Nikki checking her out, she was hot but that still annoyed you, you and Nikki had been dating almost four years and you thought by now that you'd be married, Nikki and the band were just so busy that he didn't really care or have time to think about marriage, he also has commitment issues, which he's made you aware of in the past.

You were having lunch with Amber,
"So I've been thinking about jobs and stuff" you said
"Seriously, tell me your thoughts" she said
"Well I love writing, as you know, and I want people to read what I have to say right" you said
"Yes go on!" she replied
"I can't right a book cause people won't care, so I think i'm going to apply to work at Rolling Stone Magazine, they're looking to hire someone to do interviews and write columns, I would be perfect, I live with a rockstar and I know a lot of people in the business, I think it could be great" you said
"That sounds amazing y/n, i'm so happy that your going to start doing something for yourself, you deserve it and I hope you get the job." she said with a smile

You had finally thought of a job where you can be happy and still be able to go on tour with the guys, it also involved writing and talking to people which is two things you love doing.

Time jump a week
You were getting ready for your interview,
"Nikki" you yelled
"What" he said
"Come here"
"Hold on" he yelled from the other end of the house

"So I'm about to go to my interview, it's downtown so and i'm not sure how long it'll take" you said
"Alright i'll just be here, i'm working on writing this song so" he replied
"Okay babe see ya later" you said and have him a kiss goodbye
As your were putting on your jacket Nikki noticed something on your arm (your cuts)
"What the fuck is that?" he said
"What?" you said
"On your arm, let me see it" he said
You put on jacket quickly and said
"It's nothing, I gotta go i'm gonna be late" you said
"y/n stop" he followed you out of the house
"Look this past month has been really depressing, I was just releasing some pain and stress, it's no different than you shooting up" you said
"I ugh" he scoffed
"Bye love you" you said and drove off

You arrived at their offices downtown, you walked in and it was really nice, you went up to the front desk and they told you to sit and wait,
"Y/n he's ready to see you" the lady said
"Alright" you replied
You walked into his office and sat down
"Hi y/n i'm Brant Mewborn the editor here at Rolling Stone" he said
"Hi yes, your writing it's great" you said
"Thanks, so tell me why you think you should work for Rolling Stone" he asked
"Well since i've moved here, my life has been surrounded by music and the business, I've been on a tour with Mötley Crüe and I keep up with everything going on, I'm also friends with lots of musicians which might make interviews more interesting and easier to talk to people."
"That sounds great, we do need someone with good insight" he said
"Although your writing is great and you have good potential, you have no college education or previous experience." he said
"I know, I planned on going to college but then I decided to move here and , I think my people skills and my insight will be great for the magazine" you stated
"You know what i'm gonna take a chance on you" he said
"Seriously" you said
"Seriously, you have the job" he said
"Omg thank you, thank you so much" you said
"Well you can meet the team next week and start coming up with ideas" he said

Wow you were surprised at the results of that interview, you were a woman writing for a magazine that was based around the men of rock n roll. Thank god you have good insight to the world of music otherwise you weren't sure you would've gotten that job.
